Re: phone wont read sim card
The sim card you are using is from a different cellular provider.
You can ask the original cellular provider of the phone for the code.
If they wish not to give it to you, you will need to have it unlock by an unlocking shop.

The term Subsidy Password is used by Motorola and other handset manufacturers to refer to the 8-digit (or 16-digit code for newer phones such as the Motorola K1) unlock code necessary to remove the operator lock (also known as subsidy lock) from cell phones. You specified your phone is LG,LG Phone ask for Unlock code, but subsidy password request from a Motorola Phone,Ok you can get the Motorola Subsidy Password at Onlinegsmunlock and Unlock the Phone,You need to specify the network it locked now and Country, mobile Phone model....
When you place a new or a existing SIM card from another phone provider into your mobile phone and it asks for a Security code then :- This phone is locked to the original mobile phone provider. You need to contact this mobile provider to ask for the unlock code (security code) for this phone. You need to provide proof of ownership etc and the phone's unique IMEI number which is located inside the phone under the battery. They use this number to generate the unlock code for your phone. They should provide you with instructions on how to enter this code into the phone. Once you unlock the phone, then you can insert a new SIM card in this phone or sign up with another phone provider using this phone.
You could ring the phone provider and ask for the unlock security code because you are going overseas and wish to use your phone with a prepaid SIM card from another country. This maybe a free service. The other way to get your phone unlock is to use a phone unlocking company on the Internet, they usually charge a couple of Dollars for their services.Use Google and search for "Security unlocking code” companies in your area.
To get rid of that message you need to take the following steps.
Obtain a Subsidy Password, also know as an IMEI unlock code. The
Motorola subsidy password is an 8 digit code that unlocks your phone
for use with other cellular providers. Search Google for Motorola Unlock Codes for a list of retailers. Codes are usually provided within 48 hours, and cost around $30.
*Most providers will not issue the unlock code after your account
has been inactive for more that 90 days. They says it is because your
account info goes into a "read only" status, and they cannot retrieve
the number any longer.*
Enter the IMEI code into the phone. To enter the IMEI code into the
phone, all you need to do is insert a SIM card from a different network
to the one that your phone is locked to. This will prompt the phone to
display "enter subsidy password". Just enter the 8 digit code, and your
Motorola phone is unlocked.
Subsidy password refers to the service provider.
Your phone is locked to one network and you have a different network providers SIM card inserted.
The device needs to be unlocked to remove this error.
Best of Luck.
