My ipod works fine with my itunes, but when i try to access it as a local disc, I get an error message: "Windows cannot find 'Y:\m.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search."
This is how your iPod is intended to work. Apple has designed them so that you can only access them through iTunes. So don't worry that Windows doesn't see it, it's not supposed to.
If you want Windows to see it then you will have to use 3rd party software such as http://www.findleydesigns.com/

The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

What version is your ipod? My 6th generation Ipod Classic will show up in Windows and I can access the files.
