Won't print dark black - areas of letters are gray and ...

Turn pale with more printing. all other colors appear to print fine.

i replaced the black toner, drum, and fuser. but still, black letters on white paper are not crisp dark like they used to be and have areas of gray turning to near white when continuing to print same job on numbers of papers.

which roller is the transfer roller?

if it was a voltage or roller problem , wouldn't it be a consistent problem with all colors?

where can settings for colors be altered on this printer?

Hi, I fix this kind of stuff.

If you have light print, and you are sure is not a settings problem, then the problem is one of the parts below:

1 engine controller board or high voltage power supply or poor contact to the engine controller board.

This provides High voltage to the drum and fuser, if voltage is wrong you get light print.

2 Transfer roller is defective

In this case you get irregularly faded print.

I think this is problem related to high voltage board or connectors.

This is not a fix that you can do at home, reading the high voltage out is complicate and dangerous, and must be done by a technician.

Use the phone number listed on the owner manual to get support.

When the print cartridge contacts are dirty and the printer wont print properly.

Clean the contact points on the cartridges with a dry, lint-free cloth.

1. Open the top cover of the printer.

2. Remove the print cartridges.

3. Clean the copper-colored contact points on the cartridges with a damp, lint-free cloth.
Use a dry, lint-free cloth to remove moisture from the contacts.

5. Insert the cartridges back into the printer.

6. Close the top cover.

7. Try printing again.

Have you tried cleaning print head . If not do this .

Also check the nozzles are clear . If nozzles are clogged you will have this kind of problem.

  • SAM ANDERSON Jan 23, 2009

Have you tried taking test page after installing toner.

Also check the settings in printer for minimum usage of black color .

The printer driver must be set to print text with the K resin panel.
If the text is part of a bitmap image and not a true-type font then it will print from the coloured panels and be dark grey.
To create the correct green on the card you need to change the RGB values so it prints correctly but look wrong on the badge design program. Even different printers print the same colour differently.

There are 4 inks, cyan, magenta, yellow, and black. When the black runs out, you are left with sort of a dark purple or brown color.

When printing colour, black appears green

A worn out printhead can allow inks to contaminate each other, after cleaning you need to check your cartridges, if yellow is a brown color, you are getting contamination and need to replace the printhead. Black is hard to tell but when cyan gets too dark it's contaminated as well.

No black when printing color

Dear Sir,

You are getting black lines in green color, and apperence of parallel light and dark lines because your colour catridge is almost empty. So solution is replace the catridge and take a printout. There is no proplem with a printer. i think it solves your problem.

good luck

The black ink print is very very faint

Indicates that the printer is using only color ink to create a black color. Check printer settings to see if you can set it to use only black cartridge. Also try printing with only the black cartridge inside if the printer permits, this way you can be sure if the black print head is faulty.

Black Lines running down the right side outside of the print area

It may be the fuser. Take it out and inspect the roller on it:

  1. Switch off the device, disconnect the mains plug and wait for 30 minutes before continuing.
  2. Ensure that the bypass tray is closed, or you will not be able to open the front cover.
  3. Open the front cover by pressing the release buttons as shown.
  4. Pull the front cover down towards you.
  5. Disconnect the green plug - squeeze the sides of the plug and pull.
  6. Push the left and right levers outward to unlock the unit.
  7. Pull the unit towards you as shown and lift it clear of the device.
  8. Check the roller for wear marks, If so replace it.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe
