The paper goes in about an inch or so, then goes sideways and crumples. I have looked for something stuck in the printer, but have not seen anything. I have carefully turned the printer upside down, hoping something would fall out, but nothing. Is there a way to get the paper feed to open so I can check for foreign material stuck in there?
Re: paper wont feed all the way through the printer.
I had the same problem and suspected that there was something stuck in the printer. I could not find maintenance manuals for free so I messed around with it for a while and found a temporary solution. There is a lever inside the printer and if you turn it to envelope setting it seems to give more allowance for the paper and it goes through okay. I think it is not a permanent solution because there is a screw missing and I suspect that it is stuck inside somewhere but the lever trick works. It is where the paper comes out after it is printed; at the front, bottom of the printer. If you find the instructions to open the printer, I'd appreciate them! Thanks, Helen

There could be a foreign object or torn piece of paper that's stuck further inside the printer mechanism path. Try using a flashlight and inspecting any access or clean out hatches. Sometimes something will be caught inside and cause the paper you feed in to crumple and create a jam. I watched a video on youtube giving different ideas on how to fix this problem. Fixing Paper Pick-Up Issues
if the paper is crumpling up then something is stopping the paper from moving check the paper path for obstructions. if your first set of feed roller are moving and the second set is not then this will happen also
you "may" have something stuck on one of the feed rollers - a ripped piece of paper or something. See if you can examine the rollers, and look very carefully, particularly on the side that the paper keeps jamming.
In all honesty though, printers are pretty disposable these days. They're not worth getting fixed, and if you can't do quick maintenance on them, getting a new one is your best solution.
Hi there ok
Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.
First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.
If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there. And gave the rode that the ink slides on a good clean and maybe a bit oil on cloth and wipe the rod with it. Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

If it is getting crumpled in the tray, there is something blocking the paper path.
What I would suggest is taking out the toner and drum cartridge, then remove the paper tray. Tip the machine on it's back and look into the paper feed area for something blocking the paper path.
When it is crumpling the paper like that, the feeder is working fine, just something blocking the paper path.
You can take a minela folder, and gently push it through the paper path to dislodge the obstruction.
