Hi ya,

Replacing the belt on some whirlpool Washing machines.

remove lower access panel. remove the 3 screws securing the pump and remove pump from motor shaft. The pump should drop low enough that you will not need to remove the pump hoses. Once the pump is removed, the belt can be installed around the motor pulley and idler. Replace pump.

Need to replace the drive belt (I think!) on a Whirlpool washer model# 110.20912 990. The agitator won't turn but I can hear the motor run. Please tell me how to replace the belt. Thank you!!!

According to the model number you provided, there is not a belt on your machine. Probably what has broken is the coupler between the motor and the transmission. http www searspartsdirect com Kenmore Washer Parts Model 11020912990 0582...

Look at part # 13 the coupler. Hope this helps!

Whirlpool duet washer will not drain or spin, keeps making a rumbling noise, what can I do?

Hello Randall;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.

I have a Whirlpool Duet clothes washer. They are nice units. The information following is based on my model number GHW9150PW0.

You do not have a drain problem. I am more concerned with the rumbling noise.

1.) On both the front and back end of your drum you have a spring loaded counterweight. It is possible you have a broken spring.

Part #: 8181762 Cost: $24.00

Part #: 8181645 Cost: $17.00

Your should also check out your drive belt. At a high speed it may be slipping.

The above will effect your independent motor control located inside the washer, located inside your unit.

Whirlpool ite6234d thin twin could someone tell me in detail where the belt is located in the washer?

I can not find your model number that you posted.
I can tell you that all whirpool thin twins up to last year were direct drive with no belt except for the dryer section. Whirlpool stackers from the early eighties did have a washer belt if yours is this old replace the entire machine.

Trying to locate the belt on a Whirlpool washer

Hi:
Your washer does not have a belt. It has a transmission, and they seem not to fail very often. Usually, the problem lies with the timer or some other switch. What exactly happens when your spin cycle comes around? Normally, after the wash cycle, the machine stops, then the spin cycle starts in the opposite rotation. The first thing that happens is the water is pumped out, then as the speed increases, the spinning throws the rest of the water out of your clothes. If your machine does pump down the water, but doesn't spin fast, then you might have a transmission problem, but if it also fails to pump out the water, you could have a timer or switch problem, as some machines won't spin with the lid open, and if the switch is broken, the machine thinks the lid is open.

My washing machine has a broken drive belt!

Not a good model number, so I can't be positive on this. All whirlpool top load washers built in the last 25 years are no longer belt driven, they are direct drive, Broken drive coupling is a very common problem. If you have a wp washer older than 25 years with a drive belt, I don't recommend you repair it as there are a number of major repairs at the same time. Outer tub major corrosion, leaks small amounts of water onto the base plate and then into the wig-wag assembly(electrical shock hazard), main bearing-basket drive assembly, water pump bearings and seal fail(this is usually what burns out the belt. Ect, ect. For Repair manuals try Reliable Parts Co. at 1800-666-0313 Good Luck, Appliance Specialists

Whirlpool washer water won't drain out

Check to see if there's something stuck inside the pump or the drain hose connected to the pump (pump is usually located at the bottom and towards the back of the washing machine).

If the drain line isn't clogged, you may have a problem with the water pump such as a frozen pulley or a broken impeller. If that's the case replace the water pump. Note: if you have a belt driven washer, check the belt(s) for cracks, as this would be a perfect time to replace the belt(s) if needed.

I have an older model Kenmore washer - stopped spinning and aggitating - I took the control panel off, how do I reach the belt?

Your problem may not be a belt some Whirlpool built Kenmore washers are direct drive and have a coupler instead of a belt. The coupler is located on top of the motor. It consists of three parts two with prongs and one with holes for each of the prongs. If this is broken or badly worn the washer will not agitate or spin. Good luck. Oh the drive coupler part number is 285753A.

Whirlpool Ultimate Care HD Plus Model #LSR8233EQ0 won't agitate or spin

It sounds like the coupling between the motor and gearbox has worn out. It should cost around $15 plus shipping and handling.
