Set goes turns on and off randomly

The set started turning itsself on and off randomly for about a month. I plugged into a different power strip that seemed to help. Now the TV just shut down and does nothing. No click when you try to power-up via remote or on-off button on TV

Thanks for the response, I did further research and determined that the power stip used to connect to the TV was faulty and had a short. Much cheaper than having the TV repaired

Use the remote to go through the menus, there are many TVs’ that have a remote on function that will turn on the device with a power up. So, if you have any power interruption no matter how short, the device will turn on. Go through the menus and turn this function off.

Digihome TV d19906cu turning TV on and off .. Can you only leave it on stand by ?

Most likely standby is as powered down as it will get. There is some power used by TV sets when they are off, to maintain settings and channel memory, but this is very little power. You could put it on a power strip with a switch and turn off the power when you are not using it, but it's likely you will have to set it back up and scan the channels each time you turn it on.

Box keeps turning on then after 5 seconds it turns off

Ryan, it sounds like there is a power problem going on with the receiver. In most cases we would have to replace the equipment, though there are a few things we can try first.

If the receiver is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, try bypassing that and connecting directly into the outlet. If it is already plugged into the outlet, try a different one if possible. You can also try unplugging it for about 15 seconds then plugging it back in.

If the problem persists, email me at and I would be happy to see about getting a replacement receiver out there.

After connecting our receiver, goes through all steps and starts downloading the guide then receiver just shuts off...

Neffers, it seems like it may be the beginnings of a power failure. What I would recommend trying is unplugging the receiver for about 10 seconds and plugging it back in. If the problem persists then try bypassing the surge protector/power strip as applicable, also try a different outlet.

If the problem is resolved the outlet itself may need to be checked out by an electrician to make sure it is properly grounded. If the problem persists after that then the receiver itself may need to be replaced, if that happens you can reach me at and I can help get that set up for you!

No power goin to tv at all

I saw your post, dwayne74958, and would be happy to help you with that! In order to properly assist you, there are a few questions I need to ask to better understand the situation. Could you specify what pieces of equipment work and which do not? Is the issue with the TV that it doesn't turn on at all, or just has a black screen? Do the lights on the receiver turn on when you power it up, or does it not turn on at all? What type of receiver do you have? The model number is found on the front panel in the bottom left corner.

Check behind the receiver and TV and make sure all connections, especially the power cords, are secure. If you have everything plugged in to a power strip, make sure the power strip is plugged in to the outlet on the wall and that it's turned on. If this already looks proper, you may need a new power strip. Let me know about that and I'll look forward to assisting you further!

Hope that helps!

For the past two days, the DVR is unresponsive for about 2-3 hours in the morning. The unit seems to cycle on and off by itself every 30-40 seconds or so and I hear the fan running each time. I am not...

Hello, this is Luke, let me help you on your concern. A DVR which reboots by itself always means a power failure. Try to isolate the issue first by plugging in the DVR to a good power outlet. I suggest to plug it directly to a working wall outlet to make sure that it is not a power surge suppressor or a power strip device problem. Give the DVR at least 5 minutes to boot up. Allow it to do its own thing, and it should come on by itself. You will hear a spinning sound coming off it, which is normal. Within 5 minutes you should see a message on your tv screen. A good indicator that the receiver is on, are lights on it. Orange for mode, Green for TV1 And blue for TV2. You should have at least the orange light on, when the DVR on. Do a reset if it will not power on after 5 minutes, unplug the DISH receiver for 10 seconds and plug back in. Please have TV1 on during the whole process. Let me know if this help. Have a great day.

If you havent set up an appointment yet, dish network receiver dont always run well off of power strips no matter how fancy they are, it has to do with the voltage pull off of the LNB, The LNB is the big white thing at the end of your dish. Chances are that your receiver has gone bad due to over heating or rough shipping, you can set up an appointment or call dish tell them the receivers cutting off they will mail you one and send you the postage for you to mail back the other one.

DVR won't turn on. TV screen is black

This can be a variety of different things, ensure television is powered on, what color light do you see on the front of your DISH Network 311 receiver? The green light is the one you should be seeing if the receiver is in fact powered on. If the light is not on even after pressing the power button on both the remote & the receiver, then I would recommend checking the source from which the receiver is plugged in, is it plugged directly into a electrical outlet on your wall, or is it plugged into a power strip? If wall outlet, perhaps try a different outlet and see if that makes a difference, if it's plugged into a power strip or surge protector unplug from wall and unplug receiver from strip for 30 seconds and reconnect checking to see if issue has been resolved. While checking these things, I would also recommend double checking to ensure nothing may have become disconnected and that all cables are connected from the back of your receiver to the back of your tv and to the wall and they are hand tight. I hope this helps, if the issue is still not resolved please feel free to contact me directly or you can call our technical support team for further assistance @ 1-800-333-3474. My direct e-mail is

TV suddenly lost colour - gone black and white Virgin Media.

most likely the problem is due to a "lock up" you need to reset the system, unplug the set, and look in the back panel (I am assuming it is a digital (flat screen tv?) for a small (usuall) red nipple, again making sure the power is unplugged, depress the nipple with a bll point pen for about 5 seconds, wait a few minuets, and plug the set back in, you will most likely need to go to your menu for set up again, but you will be starting with a clean slate (so to sleak) and the tuner should then correctly pass the signal though

Dish ViP622 keeps crashing - on 6th unit from Dish network

the 622 receivers are very sensitive to static electricity build up, if you have been through more than two receivers i would demand having a technician come to your home to check grounding of your dish system, while he is there he will also check the grounding where you plug the receivers in, i suggest not using any surge protectors/power strips and, as debmaldo did, try different outlets, if you have a very high end surge protector, it should be okay but for troubleshooting purposes try a different wall receptacle

Blue patches on the left edge of my Plasma tv.

I'm experiencing the same problem. I just called Costco, since it's where I bought it from, and I was told to unplug it, press and hold the power button for a minute, then plug it back in (TV will turn on by itself, and then turn off again) now turn it back on, and see if the problem has gone away.
