Check the compression . A quick check is to ground the spark plug lead , then put you finger tightly on the sparkplug hole while pulling the rope. If it pushes your finger off of the hole and you cannot stop if from doing so, it is ok. If it doen't then you wil have to replace the rings and maybe hone the cylinder walls. dependant upon the wear(damage).

Have you looked in the gas tank for a broken gas line? They become brittle and break. Very common.

Chainsaw stalls

Not sure what to say other than its fuel starvation, if not already done replace the fuel filter in the tank, if no better i would suspect a massive air leak, so replace the crank seals, if there is no primary compression in the crankcsae fuel will not pull through the engine, good luck.

Was using saw ran fine stopped and returned next day will not start fuel fine new plug filterers gas and air still wont start took to local chain saw repair shop they said that because it had water in gas...

check the carburetor. If you have a stiff diaphragm then it won't run.
I have seen them that behave just like that. They will run fine, turn it off for a few minutes then they won't restart. WD40 isn't going to get it to run either, try a small amount of mixed gas right into the carb. It should run for a minute until the gas you put in runs out then die. If it doesn't run then you have a bigger problem

Wont start - cleaned carb, checked gas and air filter, getting spark, fresh gas/mixture. Only used this a few times, was running ok then would not start next time , but ran ok the day before.

If there is a good spark, and fuel to the plug but still will not start, i would suspect piston damage, remove the muffler and check the condition of the piston through the exhaust port, any sign of damage and the saw will need to come apart to assess the damage.

Not able to get saw to turn over I had it running, ran out of gas and not it wont turn over to start again please advise

If it will not turn over it has probably sized, remove the muffler and take a look at the piston skirt through the exhaust port, and sign of scuffing or damage and the saw will have to come apart to inspect the amount of damage.

I have a poulan 2150 chainsaw 16inch bar. when it starts it runs for a little while then stops running like it ran out of gas or was shut off. what could cause this.

Check the fuel filter, air cleaner and muffler for plugging. Inspect all fuel lines for any damage--replace with original rubber lines, not plastic. Make sure the carburetor fasteners are tight including the carburetor-to-cylinder fasteners. If it runs for about 10 minutes or so, look for a plugged fuel tank vent (open the cap for a moment and replace--do you get another 10 minutes). Hope this helps!.

Chain saw stalls after a bout 10 minutes of operation. Will not

make sure your gas cap is vented. If it stalls and you open the gas cap and then reclose it and it then starts then you are getting a vacuum lock in your fuel system from not having a faulty gas cap. hope this helps

Poulan saw wont start has spark and fuel

Look for a pinched/bare stop-switch wire (I assume that you don't have spark now). Also, check the ignition coil core gap to the flywheel magnets (I use card stock to set the gap). Make sure the plug wire was not damaged again.

Husqvarna ranger 55 chainsaw starts but quits

Sounds like it could be fuel starvation. I just had a case of exact same except mine finally worsened. Most likely and what I just encountered, its your fuel line. It's a quick and simple fix and you can do it yourself. Youtube has several videos showing you how to do it. Feel your tube, if it feels soft or spongy, it's probably got cracks or even a pin hole somewhere. It's $10 and as I've learned, one of the most common fixes when saws start cutting out at full throttle or under load. My dealer said he's been through 15 of them in the past 3 months.

Chain saw emitted sparks and now does not start.

When the engine get warm and die(I suppose)check the spark at the sparkplug. You can let the saw run until it ran out of gas and you will not distroy the engine.Change the sparkplug.
