SOURCE: Technics SU-V2 keeps cutting out

An amp will cut out if the output protection circuit kicks in. This circuit compares output power against the preset level. Each channel has it's own, independent protector. There are calculations that can be done, but for a novice the rule of thumb is to "never use a speaker with a power rating less than the amp AND a lower impedance than stated". Typically using a 4 ohm load on a 8 ohm system is inviting disaster. Even if the system does not become a smoke generator, you might notice that though "louder", the sound quality is deteriorated. Many "audiophiles" often hook up some combinations of speakers to have "surround" without really understanding that the collective impedance actually changes (generally lowers).

SOURCE: Technics SU-V460 Amp Problems

Problem with older equipment is that mechanical switches corrode. Try some tuner cleaner on switches. One side cutting out may require the speaker leads (inside the cone of speaker) to be re tinned. Old speakers and lossa mileage cause solder to break up into powder. Re tinning the flexible link (looks much like a wick) allows that electricity to get into the speaker coil. If all else fails those old TV repair shops actually do have real techs that can fix it. Not like the current Geek Squad type of replace replace reboot replace type of tech. Good luck. Ed

On my Technics SU-G90 where do I connect the subwoofer

Some amps have a single RCA socket for a powered sub. If it has not got one of these then the amp has no output for a powered sub. If so then you can only use a none powered subwoofer, which will connect via the speakers of the amp, see the subwoofer manual for how to do this.

I have the same TECHNICS SU A900 MKII as you are talking about and it always runs warm I think using 4R speakers instead of 8R speakers should solve the problem and actually I am thinking of switching to 4R as well.

How do I hook up a stereo reciver to the technics su-g91

I assume you want to use the SU-G91 as a power amplifier to drive your speakers. If your receiver has connections for inserting an equalizer (may be labeled pre-amp output and power amp input), remove the jumpers between the pre-amp and the power amp, then run cables from the pre-amp to the SU-G91 inputs. You can have an equalizer between the receiver and the integrated amplifier.
If this is not available, use the recording output (for a tape recorder on older receivers). Note that the volume control on the receiver will be bypassed with this connection.

Technics su-z65

Hello
Your Tchnics is too old model and it has power transistors are used in output section. The output power is rated as 50Watts/channel/4Ohms. You can connect extra speakers to this left and right outputs, such a sway that the impedence should not go bellow 4 Ohms. Its repair book informs me that if any of the output transistors has gone out, it will not be available any more, and no substitutions cam be done. So be care when connecting more speakers. OK.

Hi I just got a Technics SU V2 amp and can't get sound from the speakers. What size speakers would suit this amp? What is the correct method to connect the speaker leads to the back of this amp,...

Being a 500W amplifier, you need to connect speakers with 300W each. The correct method to connect speakers is red terminal of speaker should be connected to red terminal of amplifier & black to black. The left side to left side speaker & right to right speaker. There may be main & remote terminals. Main speakers are the speakers at local place of the amplifier & remote for remotely placed speakers. I do have Technics SU-V85A which is somewhat similar. Enjoy! A nice piece to listen.

Technics SU-G95 Amplifier and no sound on left speakers

Usually this is a defect in the output amp IC. If you have no experience with repairs of these types of units, have it checked by a service shop. If the output AMP IChas failed, it will cost about $75 for a replacement. This unit uses an RSN3306P IC .

Technics SU-G91 OVERLOAD PROBLEM

THe amp has detected a problem and shutdown to prevent further damage. This unit has 2 amp pacs inside and one or both have failed. If you can solder, you can fix this yourself. The main amp pac is an SVI3206 and can be purchased online for about $60.

Keep me posted.
