By My Experince Display Problems of Bad and scrambled display are due to usege of bad RAM or abnormal powersupply.
But incase of a laptop these problems may also arise due to blowing of some of components on the motherboard like may your northbridge chipset which contains integrated graphics system and display controllers. using laptops for a longer time overheats some components and they melt. So next time dont ever let air spaces on the body your laptop get blocked. The same reason may have blown some ICs on the RAM.

I tried to clean the dell vostro 1014 fan, after i assembled the fan and turned on the laptop it appear black screen with dim image on my laptop screen, When I plug in external monitor it shows boot s

It sounsd like your GPU may be BGA chip and would require a re-flow/re-ball if your laptop shows graphical distortion on both monitors.

However I would first try taking the laptop apart again and double check you have connected everything properly.

Hi there are 2 Ways to Do it. You Choose .If this is the first time you are trying to do it on this 1545 if it was never formatted in the past use Method 1 if it was already formatted once in the past then use method 2 because method 1 wont be available. Method 2 is lengthy process.

Method 1 : Restore the computer's software to original condition.
Using Dell Factory Image Restore in Windows Vista
new_notice.jpg Notice: Restoring the original factory image erases ALL existing data. This includes files, folders, programs, drivers, E-mails, photos. Before performing a PC Restore, back up all personal files. If you do not back up your personal files, the data will be lost.

2 As the computer starts, press on the keyboard until the Advanced Boot Options menu appears on the screen.
new_note.jpg Note: You must press before the Windows logo appears on the screen. If you press after the Windows logo appears on the screen, the Advanced Boot Options menu will not appear on the screen. If you do not see the Advanced Boot Options menu, restart the computer, and then repeat this step until you see the menu on the screen.

3 Press the on the keyboard to select Repair Your Computer on the Advanced Boot Options menu, and then press .
4 Specify the language settings that you want, and then click Next.

6 Click Dell Factory Image Restore.
7 In the Dell Factory Image Restore window, click Next.
8 Click to select the Yes, reformat hard drive and restore system software to factory condition check box.
9 Click Next.
The computer is restored to the default factory configuration.
10 When the restore operation is completed, click Finish to restart the computer.
The software is now installed as it was when the computer was first received.

new_note.jpg Note: If the computer does not boot to DVD, follow these instructions. If it does boot to DVD ignore this note.

1 Power on the system and watch for the Dell logo to appear.

2 When the Dell logo appears, press the key to load the Boot Menu. If the menu does not appear, restart the system and tap several times at the Dell logo screen.

3 When the Boot Menu appears, highlight the CD/DVD drive (listed as "CDROM", "CD/DVD" or "CD/DVD/CD-RW") entry from the list and press .

2 After Vista Setup loads, confirm the Language, Time, Currency and Keyboard Method settings are correct then click Next.

Problem: i was watching an online game yesterday on my c500. i left it to go to the gas station and when i returned home the screen was black ( so i thought). I fooled around with it but nothing helps!...

It appears your screen may be malfunctioning (or toasted !) Try to connect a monitor to your notebook to see if it is your screen (or the video card in your notebook) is the cause of the problem. Then proceed (to fix/replace the faulty component) from there.

Compaq f756NR laptop won't boot.

I think this is a problem with the laptop's LCD display. To verify this connect the laptop to an external display and see if it resolves the issue. If it does then its confirmed that its a display related issue. Since the issue has appeared suddenly I dont think its a serious problem. May be just loose/disconnected connectors. Should be a 10 minute job for a qualified technician.
If the external display too doesn't come on then its an issue with the graphics card and you may need to replace it.

Try reseating the LCD cable to the video card. If no change, then you will most likely need a replacement LCD (Roughly $150 on EBay)

Red thin line across the screen

You could reinstall the video drivers or get updated video drivers to see if this corrects the problem. If it only happens with a movie and nothing else it may be the software you are using to watch the movie may need to be updated. If possible try a different program or DVD to watch to see if it is a program problem or DVD problem. I always tell my customers to go to the manufacturer web site and check what updates they have for your model laptop. They usually have hardware and software updates to fix known problems. I hope this helps.
