These POFs are critical for the computer to POST. You will need to use your logical thinking and troubleshooting skills to determine if you have a POST or a Power issue. Here we will discuss POST failures. Nonessential POFs are not necessary for the computer to complete POST, but they can still cause a problem with POST. Nonessential components can be removed from the computer during POST troubleshooting. Remember, while nonessential POFs are not necessary for POST, they are essential for normal computer operation. Essential POF Desciption System Board (SB) The system board, or ports/slots on it may be bad. Power AC adapter or battery power is of course necessary for post. Processor (PRC) The processor is the ''brain'' of the computer. Without it, POST will not get far. Memory Modules To do almost anything, the computer must write information to system memory. Memory seating The memory must be well seated in its slot. Memory slot The memory slot in the system board must be good. Non-Essential POF Desciption Hard drive tores the operating system and data. Mini PCI cards, PC Cards and Daughter Cards Expansion cards such as modems and wireless network cards. Peripherals Scanners, printers, external monitors. Removable Drives Removable CD-ROM, DVD, floppy drives, etc. Docking Stations Used to connect the computer to peripherals when the computer is not traveling. Essential POF Description 1. System Board (SB) BIOS Memory slots Process slot The system board, or ports/slots on it may be bad. The BIOS controls most of POST. Information in the BIOS may become corrupted. The BIOS is held on a chip on the system board. 2. Power Supply (PS) The power supply must work and make contact with all necessary components. 3. Cable Connections PS ' SB The connections between the power and the system board must be properly seated. 4. Processor (PRC) The processor is the ''brain'' of the computer. Without it, POST will not get far. 5. PRC seating The processor must be well seated in its system board slot. 6. Memory Modules To do almost anything, the computer must write information to system memory. The memory modules must work. If the customer adds memory to the computer it must be compatible with the system. 7. Memory seating The memory must be well seated in its slot. Non-Essential POF Description 8. Hard drive Necessary for boot but not POST. 9. Expansion Cards Except for Video, expansion cards are not necessary for POST. 10. Peripherals Peripherals such as printers and scanners are not necessary for POST. 11. Removable Media Drives Floppy drives, CD, ZIP, and DVD drives are not necessary for POST Memory TroubleshootingThere are several isolation steps you can take for various No POST conditions. Many of these steps are similar to Power isolation steps. DSN will help you choose troubleshooting steps. Often system memory is the cause of no POST. Below are some ways you can test the memory. Reseat the memory modules by removing them, and then placing them back into the same socket from which they were removed. Remove any modules that were installed by the customer. Move factory-installed modules to different sockets within the system, if empty (unused) sockets are available. Test memory modules one at a time - If the customer has more than one memory module, you can usually try to see if the computer will POST with just one. If that doesn't work, see if the computer will POST with just the other. POST Points Of FailureThe points of failure (POF) for POST are similar to those for power. Our new Vizio DTV turns itself off after 20 minutes. We've tried all the solutions listed for 32

Hello
check its power supply regulator board for any loose soldering points. Take it out, and inspect all the soldering points. It is a commom fault to all TV sets' power supply baord, that some solder points may get loosed. Most of the components on power regulator board will heat up while sorking. Repeated heating and colling may make solder terminals of the heating components to get loose contacted.
Resolder all the suspected solder points by applying a little more solder without make any solder bridge short in between adjecent solder terminals. If this do not help you, replace the board as card basis.
You haven't given the model number of your Vizio TV here. If so, I might post a picture of the power regulator board of your Tv. OK.

How do I get free microsoft points for my xbox?

Microsoft points are a sort of currency used to purchase digital items on the Xbox Marketplace. Getting free points would be the equivalent of stealing real money. Therefor there is no legal way to get free points.

Hi ive just got a cb900f2 boldor. It has been in a shed for 5 years, previous history unknown. The seller has put new plugs and carbs on it. It will whind over but no spark at plugs. I dont know alot...

pick ups work similar to points
The coil needs power, when the points open the coil field collapses and it sparks
With pickups they trigger the electric igniton box to do the same job as points.
if you have power to the coils, when you touch a pick up with a screw driver it should trigger a spark.
You dont often get two coils fail or two pick ups fail simutanously, but a faulty ignitor box will stop all spark.

PS (not ignition related)Check the rivets in the wheels if it has them

2000 VW Golf trouble code P1120

It can mean some points which can be faulty. It can mean that the ECU is totally failed or there us a serious electric failure. And thirdly, the most common thing that can happen is the Throttle Position Sensor which is also called TPS is defective, broken or out of range.
Please check the Car and call a technician who has mastery in repair because this code is serious.
Thank you Sir, Have a nice day.

350 Chevy starter wiring diagram needed this engine has a points style distributer there are 3 wires plus the large battery cable Solinoid Power Alt Output Ign Switch Start THANKS

IF YOU HAVE A POINTS TYPE DISTRIBUTER, THE WIRING WILL BE: TO ENERGIZE THE STARTER SOLENOID A LARGE, ABOUT A NUMBER 12 OR 14 GAUGE WIRE WILL GO TO THE INNER MOST SMALL TERMINAL ON THE STARTER SOLENOID. IT MAY BE PURPLE IN COLOR. THE SECOND SMALLER WIRE SHOULD GO TO THE OUTER SOLENOID TERMINAL AND GO FROM THERE TO THE + TERMINAL ON THE IGNITION COIL. THIS IS FOR BY PASSING THE RESISTOR WIRE FROM THE STARTER IGNITION SWITCH. THE LARGER BATTERY CABLE WILL GO TO THE UPPER TERMINAL ON THE STARTER SOLENOID. THERE MAY BE AN ADDITIONAL BATTERY FEED WIRE TAKE OFF FROM THE STARTER BATTERY TERMINAL POST ON THE SOLENOID FOR OTHER ACCESSORIES. THIS TYPE OF SYSTEM (POINTS TYPE) WAS TYPICALLY DONE AWAY WITH IN 1975 WHEN THE HEI DISTRIBUTOR CAME OUT.
