Question about Hotpoint WMA35 Front Load Washer
Remove lower rear cover of washer, remove belt, undo 2 screws securing motor, remove motor wiring plug,, lever back motor and remove motor.
Remove carbon brushes at end of motor, and check for wear, if less than 8-10mm long, then replace them.
Clean armature with emery cloth or sandpaper before fitting new brushes, if it still does not work then the motor is probably faulty.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.

The brushes are easy to replace, but there are several different versions depending on the make of motor fitted., you need to determine the make of motor to ensure you get the right brushes.
You should not be paying more than £20.00 or so for them.
Go to www.hotpoint.co.uk
You will be presented with a list of suppliers to obtain the brushes.
I do not think it wise to fit a new motor, as some times the faulty motor can cause the main circuit board to blow, so you fit a new motor and it still does not work.
I think it is worth the gamble, and fit a new pair of brushes.like I said ,and if it does not work then call it a day.

Cheers I'll let hubby know when he gets in from work.
We thought it may be brushes, they sound easy to replace, thanx to you, any idea how much they are and best place to get them online?
If its the motor I suppose its not worth fixing, What do you think? thanks in bundles!
wow cheers for prompt reply, hubby will have to have a look tonight, if it seems its the brushes hopefully we will be able to find out what sort of motor it is from the motor itself and them will be able to determine what brushes we need.
Many many thanks for all your help. I would like to fix it as up to date we have never had a problem with it. If I have to replace I'm not sure if I we be able to afford a good enough hotpoint at the mo.
hi brushes measure 10ml, both of them so does anyone know if it is worth replacing them or could it be that it is perhaps the motor broken and not the brushes needing replacing,
thanks
Excellent, I will order brushes this week and let you know the outcome.
Again many, many thanks, much appreciated.
