Question about Cobra 29 LTD CB Radio
Sounds like high swr. If using a mag mount antenna; check for a proper ground by cleaning the antenna base and the place where you put the antenna. Any other antenna; check the place where the whip goes into the coil at base of the antenna. Make sure that antenna has good ground. Check continuity of the pl259. Make sure there is a good connection and no opens or shorts. Hope it helps.

SOURCE: antenna light still on
The antenna warning light on the Cobra 29 LTD has a pot ( varabile resistor ) that sets the senativity of the light coming on. If you open the radio, you'le see the pot at the back of the radio. It's the last pot in the rear of the chassis Simply turn it more torward the center of the setting ( anyplace is ok as it means nothing to the preformance of the radio ). The light won't come on unless the SWR's are high. Good Luck and if I can help more, you can email me at this address or at my email address email@example.com.

SOURCE: cb radio
Most of the time this indicates a bad swr. You may have a poor ground or a bad cable. See more about swr here:
You may need to lengthen or shorten the antenna but you should have a swr meter to do this in the frequency you are testing. At radio shack they should have one for cb.
Hope this helped
You should refrain from transmitting until you get the swr down to about 1.2:1 or close.

Check the ground. Make sure its grounded well on bare metal. To see if the ground is bad, or not making good connection, disconnect the antenna and turn it on. if it does not power up, that means your ground is bad, and it was grounding only through the antenna.
Make sure not to key up with out the antenna connected.

You need to shorten the antenna, adjust the whip all the way down and see what you have and then cut off 1/4" at a time remember this low on 1 high on 40 it needs to be lengthened high on 1 low on 40 it needs to be shortened . I hope this helps and good luck.
