SOURCE: low flow hot water in Delta Shower

If your water heater is old or has been recently replaced, it will slough off debris that will get caught in the hot water supply side of the faucet. You have to disassimble the faucet and use a dental pic to remove the debris from it. This is a real common occurance. You can also try to flush out that side by removing the parts and then slowly turning on the water without the parts inside. Be careful not to flood your bathroom when you do this. But usually you have to dig it out. I have spent as high as 3 hours digging the liner from the dip tube of a water heater out of a faucet.

SOURCE: replace delta single handle shower cylinder

Yes, I believe this unit uses a cartridge right? They do fit a little tight due to the small washers on the back side of the cartridge. If this is the one I'm thinking of, there are two leg like appendenges that come off the back and fit into small holes at the back of the manifold or what some call mixing valve housing.

A stem is a cartridge in a real old valve. You have pulled retainer clip, you can try to pull it out with pliers, but you might need a moen cartrigde puller.

Turn off the water to the home. You need tthe stem beneath the handle. Remove the handle after locating the set screw, remove the cylindrical beauty cover, and unthread the retaining nut to access the valve stem. Take it to a plumbing supply house or home store to make certain of the match.

You can go to the link below to get a parts breakdown of your style of Delta. The seats and springs are recessed into the valve body behind the RP1991 stem. The flat part of the stem rotates back and forth across surface of the rubber seat, so in time the rubber surface wears flat and the spring can no longer push it firmly against the stem.and then the faucet drips.

Turn off water to faucet. Unscrew handle via set screw under plastic cap. Unthread cap over ball assembly. Pry out valve seals & springs. Reverse procedure to install.

It takes a 1/8" allen wrench to remove handle. To increase hot water flow remove plastic dial that sets temperature. It is right behind handle and slides off stem for easy adjustment.

Remove indicator and replace about 1/8 to 1/4 turn counter clock wise to increase to hotter temperature.
