Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: installed a new internal hard drive and when I try

Boot off the install disk with nothing else attached to the PC. ( external hard drives especially ).
Choose ‘Terminal’ in the ‘Utilities’ menu
Then (substituting the correct values for your setup), type:
diskutil partitionDisk /dev/disk0 1 GPTFormat JournaledHFS+ my-hard-disk 111G
It’s all one line and hit return at the end.
You should see progress information, followed by a neat table giving the new formatting that has been applied.
‘/dev/disk0’ is how the operating system refers to the first whole disk in the system.

Then, the ‘1’ here signifies that you want one volume only on the drive.

Then, replace ‘my-hard-disk’ with the volume name you want to use. This is the name of the disk as it appears in the finder.

Replace ‘111G’ with the size of the disk in gigabytes. It’s usually about the same as the disk, and as the partitioning software will stretch a single partition to fill the disk it doesn’t matter too much. 111G was the value used for a 120GB HDD, because I knew that it wasn’t really 120GB.

Hope this is of some help.
If not a solution ( hard one to do over the net :) ) hopefully it will point you into a solution.

Hi,
I guess the 'other places of the pages' is mostly the beginning of the line? It usually happens when the key stroke is not proper while using combination keys. Or also it happens when if you dont release a key when you press the next in between your speedy typings.

HI,

It seems that a key may be stuck. the touchpad is normally not the cause until it malfunctions - which is rare.

Check the down key and numeric 2 key on the numeric keyboard. If they are stuck, try popping them to their natural place without too much force.

Its possible the drive may have gone bad.

When booting, go into the bios (could be F1, DEL, F8, F10) if the drive is *not* showing up in the bios, then your drive is probably dead.

You can pull the drive out, attach it to a mini dock and attach it to a desktop PC to see if the drive is recognized.

Universal USB Dock at Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817707192

Can it be done cheaper? YES,
But not as elegant ... still externally attaches with USB (has connectors for all types)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812156017

and even cheaper if you open the PC and have an IDE controller to attach to (many new pc's don't have IDE any more when purchased from mass manufacturers like dell, hp, ibm, as they leave off the connectors on some systems for the few pennies it costs per machine)
4 dollars: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812200053

IF the drive is not recognized, you've lost the data and the technology exists to revive the drive but that's usually in the 1000 dollar range.

If the drive is not recognized, you can buy a new replacement and put it in yourself .. then reload the operating system.

Judge your costs accordingly .. if the drive is 200 dollars, you can just as easily buy a new replacement laptop (ok. 250 to 299 .. but still they are that cheap by comparison)

My camera is not being recognized by my Dell laptop. The camera has always worked fine, but I am trying to download pictures and the computer is not recognizing the camera. The USB port is working fine.

Open up control panel and add a new device. Once there plug up your unit and
see if it shows in the adding new device window. If that does'nt work go to your
device manager ( ) see if you
notice any items that require your attention (usually marked in yellow or red) and
try to resolve there.

Need to scan an email and email it back

Hi, after the item/s are scanned you should be taken through a series of prompts, one being to save the scanned item/s. Can't tell by your description at what point you are having trouble. So I may be covering some areas you may already be familiar with. After you have saved item/s to a location where you can access it, depending on how the item was saved, such as in the Windows and Fax Viewer or similar. If you are using Microsoft Windows that is. Place cursor over the saved file, right click and place cursor over "Send To" where a drop down menu will have some options, select "Mail Recipient" and it should open up your preferred email program with the item/s attached ready for you to enter the email address where you want to send it to. If not then open your email program that you wish to use and select the option to write send or compose mail depending on which program you use, select "add attachment" then select "Browse" and when you locate the item right click it and click "Select" which should place the item/s into an attachment.

Hope this helps. Ratings are very important to us so I want to thank you in advance for taking a moment to rate my response.
