may be it will the issue with the conflict of windows updates with the norton.. so whats my suggeation is just go ahead and install the latest version of norton antivirus2009,first you have to uninstall the 2008 version from the add/remove programs and install the 2009 version www.norton.com/nav09 is the link surely it will fix and you have to activate the 2009 product using the 2008 key
This problem is being faced by many persons and a proper solution has not been reached as yet.
What you can do is uninstall the Add-on
pack and wait for the update to appear. What else is there to loose,
the annoying uninstall problem or parental control (which is only
necessary if you have children).
Norton Antivirus 2005 has lots of errors and problems specially with its updates and also its virus scan is not reliable. Norton 2005 can also corrupt your windows while updating itself its better you uninstall it completely and go for Norton 2007 or my favourite Mcafee Total Protection 2007 which has no problems with updates and has anti spyware, registry repair and lots of things. You can also go for AVG Anti Virus which is quickest of all
