How do I turn down thermostat on this water heater?

The temperture of a water heater should be approx 120 degrees. If you use a dishwasher that is the desirable tempurture to kill bacteria.

If your heater has two thermostates then make sure they are set for a 5 degree difference between them

Good Luck,

Marty

if you have not been keeping the water balanced, there may be a buildup in the pipes inside the heater core. this would cause the heater to work harder, produce less heat transfer and cause the over temperature sensor to kick out before meeting the set point.

Mechanical thermostats such as the one in your heater are only accurate between 3-5 degrees once set. Unlike a digital thermostat that is accurate to .1 degrees. You can purchase an aftermarket thermostat for $120 that is digital and can be installed in your heater.

Intermatic electric water heater timer only gives enough hot water for a 7 minute shower. How do I increase this time?

Try turning your thermostat up 20 degrees. That will make hotter water, requiring more cold to mix so you'll use less hot water for the shower. If that helps but you'd like it longer, increase the temperature in 10 degree increments until you reach a temperature that works.

HOT WATER

Not exactly, the heated water in the tank it self is roughly the desired temperature of the thermostat, there is a variable of 5 to 15+ degrees depending on its calibration. there are other considerations i.e. water heater tank insulation - hot water pipes being exposed to cooler temperatures thus cooling the water in the pipe - the farther distance that the water travels from the heat source, the cooler the water will be at the spigot.
