My psp keeps saying that a connection error has occured and that the connection to the accespoint timed out. what do i do?

Most likely this is a security issue. Be sure that you are inputting the router password in correctly and are choosing the correct security. If you believe you are and still can't get connected, try logging into the administration console on the router and disabling the security password and try connecting with your PSP again. If it works, it's definitely an issue with the security on your PSP.
If it still doesn't work then the problem lies elsewhere. Is Mac filtering enabled on the router per chance? You may have to call Sony support at 1800mysony for help. When you call tell them that you have already explored the router security avenue because that will be the first thing they have you try.

I hope this helps! If this did help you, please give a thumbs up!

Thank you for choosing FixYa!

I want to change my security setting on my network so that my psp will support it. How can I do it without the disk

Welcome to Fixya. To access the router page you need a working computer that is connected to the router. To access your router you need to use a computer that is connected to it. Open a Browser then type The Default password is smcadmin. Password is case sensitive. Click on Wireless and then select Security. You can now change the security settings of your router. You can also refer to the manual below.

My psp wont connect to my router and i have the same wep key password in is this a "firewall" problem?

What exactly message you get when u try to connect your PSP. However, here is simple few steps to configure your PSP, just see if u have missed something. (Router Configuration) open your browser and type and use admin as username and password.Apply your PSP MAC in the routers. for this go to Parameters > System> PSP Information in your browser of PSP. (PSP Configuration) Go to Settings >LAN>Infrastructure Mode>New Connection>Scan> now select the IP address of the Router and enter the WEP key which is written the router. Now you should be able to do Custom>Automatic>Do not use . Remeber you only select Do not USe if you dont browse through your PSP. Now Enter and this will InshahAllah solve your problem.

Where do u find the aoss access point? what is it

You can find this on your wireless router. Not all router support AOSS. If you do not know if your router support AOSS you can use the wLAN connection on your PSP.

You can go here to help you connect to your wireless router.

My PSP internet connection not supported to my access point.

The SSID is the NAME of your Routers connection. So you need to know your WiFi connections Name, That's the "Access point" Security, Is IF you assigned a WEP/WAP KEY, when the router was first setup. If NO Key is set, that is what it means "Unsecured",
You need to get a Netgear router manual, for your exact model, it shows all in pictures how to do it.

What is the password to get into locked wifi networks for psp 3000 answer me please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I need a true answer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The password really depends on the router. There is no one password that unlocks all the connections. The password is made up by the owner of the router and connection.

You would need to configure your netgear router to accpect trasfers from a multimedia device like psp. and also psp can only support only WPA-PSK (TKIP) Encryption.

Please Follow the below steps to do the same.(please perform the steps in a already connected device like a laptop or a desktop using a Wi-Fi Card.

Step One: open the web browser in your computerthe laand type or

Step Five: it would ask you for username and password. enter Username : admin and Password : password .

Step Six : Confiuring the router.

1) please avoid setup wizard and confure it manually and follow the steps below.

2) you would need to click on left frame buttons for the confgration to come on the right side.

3) On the right menu now click on wireless settings in the setup section.

a) set security option as WPA-PSK the third option.
give a password like "abcde12345" should be 10 charactes and alpha-numerical. ( This option is to make your Wi-Fi more secure and to avoid unauthorized access. Key lifetime : 60minutes

then click Click "Apply"

5) Now on the right menu goto advanced tab and click on UPnP(Universal Plug and Play Devices)

a) Check on Turn UPnP On.

Then Click "Apply".

Router Config Done..Now on the right side click in "Logout" (bottom most option)

after the router logout is done close the web browser and remove the network cable and the the power cable from the router.

Post Configring Steps :
a) Swich off the dsl modem.
b) plug the dsl cable to the internet jack in the router.
c) plug in the router power cable back to switch on the router.
d) Switch on the DSL Modem.

Wait for 15 Seconds.

Connect to you wireless netowrk using you psp and provide the WPA-PSK - TKIP passord which you had given in router for preventing unauhorized access.

Bingo !! you are connected...and more secure.

Internet connection with ppoe password not accepting pl support

point to point protocol over ethernet needs user name and password. This should not be an issue for you as you should be connected already (pc) and able to accept wireless connections. If this is the case then the issue is with your wireless connection. More than likely you need a WPA - Key - simply enter this into PSP connection settings ans you should be ok. To get the key log into your router and you will see it. Its a odd looking stricg of letters and numbers - kinda like this A3 C2 D4 E5 F6 I believe its 23 charactors. Good luck, let me know how you progress. Support Rich
