To clear your ARP cache you need to do start, run, and then type in cmd in the command line to get to a command prompt

Once there use:

netsh interface ip delete arpcache

This is of course assuming you use Windows XP thru 7 or server.

SOURCE: how do i clear the cache?

Hi:
There are lots of little things that slow down a computer, mostly it is programs that are running, but day to day clutter can slow your computer down too.
A good thing to try is to download a good , free program:
www.ccleaner.com

It will analyze your computer, and clean up all that it can safely clean, incuding your registry.
It works well, and is 100% free.

Try going into settings, under keyboard and clear its cache. If this doesn't work try a soft reset. If that fails, clear the cache partition.

The problem is DNS - without a valid dns server, you can't surf the web. Try entering 8.8.8.8 as the primary DNS. If this helps, then you should figure out why the computer is not able to obtain an IP address automatically. This may be because of settings in the access points you are connecting to.

Hi

The Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) is very crucial for TCP/IP network communication. If you begin to notice network connectivity problems such as particular web pages not loading or not being able to ping certain IP addresses then clearing your ARP cache is a good place to start. The TCP/IP ARP Command component provides the functionality to add, delete, or display the IP address for Media Access Control (MAC) address translation.

To flush/Delete the ARP cache in windows 7/Vista/XP/2000/Server 2003/2008 follow this procedure
Click on Start->Run-> type the following command click ok
netsh interface ip delete arpcache
Dynamic ARP cache entries update persist for 2-20 minutes depending on the system.
Windows 2003 Server = 10 minutes
Windows 2000 professional/Server = 10 minutes
Windows XP = 2 minutes
Solaris = 5 minutes
Delete IP address using arp command
arp -d <ip address>
Example
arp -d 10.1.1.2
Display arp table
arp -a
Add static entry to ARP table
arp -s <ip address> <mac address>
Example
arp -s 157.55.85.212 00-aa-00-62-c6-09

I have a HP 2200 Printer with a hp jetdirect 615n model j6057a Iam unable to get the printer to tell me the mac address. Help to locate MAC another way.

If you know the IP of the printer & the printer is connected to the network, try pinging the IP address of the printer.
After that, open a command prompt & type the following command then press Enter:
arp -a
This will display the arp cache on your computer. Check the list & find your printer's IP, & opposite to it, you will find its MAC address listed.

Wireless problem

Changing MAC address of a router is usally not nessicary and can cause this issue. ARP (Address Resoution Proticol) maps the IP addresses of ever device on the network to their MAC addresses. To make this process more efficent computers cache (store) this information for quicker retrival. So once your computer has connected to your router it stores it's MAC address. When it trys to connect again, and you've changed the MAC address the computer will still try to connect t a device with the old MAC address which now doesn't exist.
If you find it nessicary to change the MAC address of the router you'll want to clear the ARP cache on the machines that connect to it. To do so type "netsh interface ip delete arpcache" from a command line.
