Question about Philips Magnavox 51MP392H Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Power turning off and on

My television is just over a year old, and is now turning itself off and on. When you turn the power on, the power/standby button flashes then it turns itself off. After about 30 seconds to a minute it will turn itself back on and then back off, and repeats.

Re: Power turning off and on

This may be the main digital module, I would suspect that this set is a couple years old and would be having issues with maybe the SSB module in that case, unplugging the set for 1 min might help, but I bet that it will require service.

TV turns itself off and power light flashes green

The Standby/Power light of the TV blinks when there is any internal malfunction in the TV.
The self-diagnostic function of the projection TV will cause the STANDBY light to blink or flash when the television detects an issue. The number of times the STANDBY light flashes corresponds to a specific issue. As per the two examples below, some of the issues may be resolved without the need for service.
If the STANDBY light flashes three times in sequence, the lamp cover is not securely attached. Reattach the lamp cover to resolve this issue.
If the STANDBY light flashes four times in sequence, the TV may be overheating. To resolve this issue, ensure that the back of the TV is well ventilated.

If the flash sequence is not listed above or the light continues to flash, follow the steps below to perform a power reset:
Try the following steps to check if the issue can be resolved.
Turn off the television.
Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.
Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.

If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.

If the issue continues to occur, service may be required.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Samsung HC-P4752W Does Not Turn ON

The proble you have is an intermittant power supply or sweep power supply. Unless you can find a bad connection on the power and deflection board, this could be a very difficult problem to find. I have ran across this problem a couple of times, and after spending countless hours troubleshooting, I replaced the main board and all the problems were taken care of. The board part number is at and I found the board for you. it is located here: Good Luck

Sony kds-r50xbr1 turns itself off and then green light blinks 52

I too have a Sony KDS-R60XBR1 tv and the issue that you are experiencing is due to one of your fans in the rear of the tv is not working.  The tv automatically shuts off in protective mode.  Make sure the POWER/STANDBY light is blinking and not the lamp light below it.  Is the power/standby blinking 4 times in red? If, yes then its a fan that needs to be replaced.  If its the lamp light blinking then you need to replace the lamp.  The lamp is easy to replace by ordering the lamp either from Sony for $250 or find it cheaper for approx. $150 from other DLP sources and replace youself by following your manual.  I hope this helps you.
