I get a message " there was a problem installing your new hardware, your device may not work properly". This was after plugging in the Sansa SanDisk Rhapsody e260 MP3 player for the first time.

I have a Vista cpu which might be the problem but I can't load songs, delete songs, or even get the cpu to recognize it.

You dont need a driver. when you plug it in a window should pop-up within 10-20 seconds of plugging it in. Click open folder to view files and then click what you want on your MP3 and drag it to audio. I've had this problem before.

I have a 4GB sansa e260 and I lost the CD that came with the product. Since I somehow lost a lot of programs on my PC, some of which I have restored, I don't see the program for the sansa. Can I download...

Go to the manufacturer's web site at http://www.sansa.com

Click "Support" at the top, then "Driver Download Wizard" at the left. Select you product and operating system, and go from there.

If you need the CD, you need to contact the manufacturer to mail you the CD. But, you may check the link below and download the software/driver for Sansa E260:

Sansa e260 wont be detected by computer

I assume that you are running an older version of Windows from XP/2000. If you can get on the internet, go to Sansa's site and download the driver from there. Here is a link http://mp3support.sandisk.com/sansa/SMC

Problem recognizing songs in sansa e260 mp3 player.

From what I'm hearing you don't have a good driver. If you still have the disk use that. If not google it or something. I have a Sansa e260 as well so I would suggest loading the songs on in windows media player rather that windows explorer. If you open Media Player and then go to sync and it does not recognize your device, then you have a bad driver. If not, then start syncing your songs that way.

Hope everything works,

Cannot get my computer to recognize my sansa e260 player

I cannot get my desktop to find a driver for the e260, but if you use the SD microdisk you can load stuff to the microdisk if you have a card reader. You need to buy the full size SD card with the micro SD attached. Then sync the stuff you want to load and when you boot up your player, it will refresh the data base and you can play the stuff on your card. Seems a shame to waste 4 gigs of hard drive on the player, but I do not know anyone who has found a driver for the e260 that works with XP service pack 2. If you do please send me an email me.
