Question about Dell Inspiron 530 Desktop Computer

Turning on DELL 530 the orange led remains on

My DELL Inspiron 530 works fine but since a couple of months sometime (without any deterministic situation) when I turn on it the orange led remains on and computer doesn't continue.
The fans continue to make noise.

I need to unplug the power cable and turn on again.

Any idea about this strange behaviour?

I'll save you 3 hours on the phone with DELL. Same problem.
If you are OK with this, turn power off, discharge system by pressing on button for 5 seconds. Identify the slot for the phone jack/modem. Remove it. Plug in and turn on. If that is the problem, turn off and insert the card in the adjacent slot. They asked that I replace the motherboard, so if you're under warranty, call them.

When this happens that is usually problem which includes bad PSU, or it can be
bad Capacitors on motherboard.The way to check it is, just to open the computer case ,
and check for bulged capacitors.If there are none cap bulged then it is definitley PSU.

It's most likely you're CPU. I just tried to upgrade the CPU in mine and got the same thing.

Go to and select "I'm looking for drivers and downloads". If you don't have the proper version of Adobe you will be prompted to install it. Once installed return to "drivers and downloads" and enter the "service tag"(serial number) of the laptop. Confirm this is the model you have and select “manuals” on the left side column. View the "Dell Technology Guide" and then select "Troubleshooting".
If the power light is steady amber, a device may be malfunctioning or incorrectly installed. Remove and then reinstall the memory modules (see the documentation shipped with your computer). Remove and then reinstall any cards (see the documentation shipped with your computer).

Green LED on Dell Inspiron Desktop 530 - all OK?

Yes, on most desk top the green light in the back tells you that you have power to the cpu. Even though the unit is off it is telling you that the current supply is still there. This is a good feature if you move your unit as soon as you plug it in you know if the outlet is on or not.

yes buy a power supply. I have seen hundreds of computers that have gone through storms. Remember a Dell usually uses a special power supply.
For a good deal look on ebay for your specific model, They almost always have "Buy it Now" deals.

Solid Amber light when starting the Inspiron 530 . Every time i start the Dell inspiron 530, the solid amber light comes on and it dont start. As per Dell user manual i have tried everything but of no use....

Amber led simplifies a start-up-error. This could be a number of things.

For example:

Check if HDD is connected properly

Check if RAM is connected properly / also if this is damaged your pc wont start.

Check your m/board for any loose capacitors an if they are not popped at the top.

Your LCD screen is properly plugged in to the m/board and if the cables aren't damaged they are very thin and fragile.
also could be the power supply...

check the device for a " reset " button, they are usually located on the bottom of the device, if this does not work, you may need to contact dell directly and discuss the problem further.

Tower will not power up

The light is orange instead of its normal color cause the motherboard is bad and needs to be replaced. It means its not recognizing either the memory or the cpu properly.
