I have a kirby G7D ultamite, I recently replaced the switch, it worked for two weeks then it hasnt turned on since. Also I checked the cord, it has power going to it. Please respond asap thank you.

The switch has probably come lose, have you checked the motor to make sure it is good? Usually the cord will short out right by the motor assembly try to wiggle it while plugged in and see what it does, its most likely the cord I recondition kirbys and never have I had a problem with the actual vacuum only the cord.

Kirby won't start. cord got stuck and it stopped, but after I wiggled it, it worked again. Then the next time I couldn't get it to start. took cover off of cord, it looks fine, no fraying. Its an older...

The problem is most likely a bad cord. Take off the cord cover on the side of the motor unit, and pull the cord straight out to remove it. The cord can then be tested with a voltage meter, and replaced if necessary.

Check cord on machine. Plug in and turn on wriggle cord near powerpoint and then near machine and all over, if it starts and stops the cord needs replacing

My Heritage II just lost power in the middle of vacuuming. The switch will turn on but no power.??? What is wrong?

It could be the switch that has become defective (the 'feel' of the switch may be different, but needs to be checked with a meter). Another possibility is that the cord has developed a loose connection at or near the power plug. Turn the switch on and wiggle/push the cord near the plug. An intermittent connection is indicated by the motor turning on and off. If so, cut the plug from the cord (they are usually a molded device that can't be serviced) and install a replacement plug from a hardware store or home center. If the switch is determined to be bad, order a new one from an appliance parts store or vacuum repair center. Good luck!

My vacum is not powering up

Reason number 1 (not sure why Kirby Co. still has not fixed it) - improperly installed outer bag. You have to push the bag all the way to the unit so it presses the safety switch that is between exhaust and the vacuum shell

Reason 2 - defective cord - try wiggling it. If you know how to do it - try removing cord and supplying power directly to the unit using another cord or wire (ONLY if you know how to work with electricity. If you get zapped - do not blame me)

Reason 3 - bad power switch (instructions on how to replace it HERE)

Reason 4 (very unlikely) - motor KAPUT

Vacuum stopped working

Sometimes after years of use the power cord can break internally where you won't see it. Look for damage or twists in the cord. With the vacuum turned on wiggle these areas between your hands and see if it tries to run. If so replace the cord. If not the switch may be bad or the motor needs to be serviced. Good luck. Please rate me so I know if I helped.

Kirby G5 intermittent power

I would say that it is a short in the power cord.
