As you can see from the handle in reverse side you need to remove the inner Philip screw and the you will need this special card which fit under the handle and in the bracket handle support for the removal of the handle. Model GS20-D side by side will not cycle. Why?

Hello Carol;
My name is Peter. I am a retired field service technician.
Your given model number has more digits to it, therefore I can not identify your particular unit for spare parts numbers.
1.) Defrost Timer - Remove the front bottom grill. It just clips on, 1 clip on each end - just pull on it. On the bottom right you will see a small plate with a hole through it. This hole has a slot for a screw driver. With a flat head screw driver turn the slot clockwise. You will hear a clicking sound. Slowly turn one click at a time until the refrigerator turns off.
Wait 30 minutes. Observe the freezer back wall. Do you hear a hissing sound (condensate hitting the heater) or is the back defrosting? If this is happening then you have a bad defrost timer.
If this is not happening your defrost timer is good. Using your screw driver turn the slot 1 click at a time until you refrigerator turns on.
2.) Defrost Heater - Purchase this part before you start the work. Observe the part and the connectors on it. Unplug the unit. Completely empty your freezer section and all shelf. Remove the light bulb cover, it clips on squeeze to remove. Remove the light bulb. Unscrew all of the screws in the back panel. This panel has rubber strips on each side and may give you some difficulty removing the back panel. Observe how the heater is mounted. There are two reflector plate holding each heating element, remove them, 1 screw on each side. Disconnect the existing heater and install the new heater. BE CAREFUL THE FREEZER COIL IS RASOR SHARP, WEAR GLOVES. Reassemble. I do not think you will have to remove the ice maker and bucket, but you may, to remove the lower back panel.
Purchase Locally: Defrost Timer $63.00. Defrost Heater $65.00.
Purchase over the internet for about 1/2 price.

the drain tube behind the inside rear freezer wall below the drain pan there is plugged, remove rear inner freezer panel you will see the drain tube take a piece of hose and insert it down this drain hole and seal the drain opening as best as possible the blow into the hose to remove blockage,a piece of wire will work too,but the drain is not a straight run and getting a wire down there to remove blockage is difficult, then also put very hot water into the drain hole to help melt ice if this is the blockage problem

I have a GE refrigerator and water is leaking into my freezer from behind the back panel

I am pretty sure you are having a defrost drain blockage problem. Most defrost every eight hours and over a period of time the drain line that comes down from freezer into a cup like object top middle and back of the fresh food section. If blocked by gunk or ice you will see trails of liquid leaking down the rear wall of fresh food compartment until it reaches the crisper drawers. This is not always the same with every model as you may see frozen ice flowing down ther rear wall of freezers on side by sides. Here is an example Click here=> Whirlpool Leak Photo taken by TechnicianBrian He has been around a good bit and deserves credit for his contributions. Here is another way to make this look more si mple in clip below. TechnicianBrian.com And in this photo are several parts listed in photo group #1 were it is most likely running down the wall=> MagicChef CTB1921AR fresh food section. If you still have questions please ask and rate me if I was able to explain this well enough. Every refrigerator is made different so these are examples only. The key is to find if ice or just gunk has blocked you defrost drain. Unplug and then remove the rear panel in back of freezer. We need to see if the water is overflowing the condensate drain tray or if the blockage is in the turn the drain leads down back of your refrigerator. Much more on this page=> Leaking Refrigerators! This is a common tip so I will be placing this post and add as we go new ideas listed in Sea Breeze Tips Section. If you run into any problems along the way of repair please let me know, Thanks, Sea Breeze

How do i remove the rear freezer panel

Remove all the contents from the freezer. Next is remove the the shelves of the freezer by lifting the front of the shelf and then pulling the shelf out of the freezer. Remove screws on the left and right side of the curved panel, located on the bottom of the back panel. Remove the curved panel.
Lift the bottom of the air tower cover, located in the center of the freezer's back panel, straight back and pull the air tower cover down to remove it. Remove the screw from the left side of the evaporator fan opening and from the panel in the upper-left side of the freezer's back panel and pull the back panel toward you and out of the freezer.

Water dripping from freezer into refrigerator

Hi,Most likely the drain in the freezer is clogged up and frozen. Every time when your fridge automatically defrosting defrosted water dripping inside the fresh food compartment. You have to remove the back panel in the freezer and using a hair dryer defrost the drain which is located under the evaporator coil. Then put very hot water through the drain until it goes free.
Yes, you need to remove the back panel inside the freezer, It should have screws that come out then it should pull off and out.

On your model, the defrost drain hole/line is located inside of the freezer behind that back access panel, just remove that back panel, remove your freezer floor panel FIRST(Has 2 screws in front), that simply pulls out, then you will see the drain hole under the evaporator coil. It may be iced up, you will have to clear all of the ice and run hot water down the drain hole.

Once the back panel screws are removed that panel should just pull off, pull hard. Make sure your refrigerator is unplugged first.

Good luck.

How do i get the plastic panel on teh back of my frigidaire freezer off--there aer no screws--there is a little round button off center on teh panel. I have used hair dryer adn the whole panel comes...

The panel you are trying to remove im guessing is near the top of the freezer. Do not remove that, as it is ONLY an air tunnel that leads from lower down the back wall. Removing this plastic panel could damage it. That METAL panel is held in place by about 10 screws. also, the temperature control is usually clipped on this back wall, and NEEDS to be removed from the back wall to remove the back wall from the freezer. there is usually a styrofoam cover around this control behind the back wall, keep this in one piece. If there is a problem with your freezer, it will have nothing to do with that upper plastic panel, as again, it is only an air tunnel

My referator -freezer GE - TBf17 makes a chirping sound in the back

You need to replace the fan motor , pt. # WR60X190 . Remove the food and the ice maker ( if equipped ) , and remove the grill at the top left on the freezer panel ( pops out ) . Remove the 2 screws holding the rear freezer panel on , and remove the panel . You may have to remove the white housing to replace the motor , or just remove the fan mounting bracket screws , to remove the fan for replacement .
