Go to the settings how to change the language on my macbook air - image.tiff and then go to Language & Text image.tiff and select what language you want.

Change language from Japanese to English

If you recognize the icons, you should be able to go to system preference -> Language & Region (icon looks like a UN Flag). You should be able to change your language now.

I would recommend getting an application called clean my mac, it will dig through your mac and trash unneccesary language files and what not, you can also use it to completely uninstall apps. You might have to pay for it though. I believe there's a free trial.

Go into System preferences. Select Language and text.
Select the languages you would like.
Insert the install disk and go though set up making sure the language you want is selected.

    Changing language

    To add other languages to your Mac, click on the Apple symbol in the top left corner of your screen.
    Select, "System Preferences..."
    When System Preferences opens, click on the icon, "Language & Text."
    Click on, "Input Sources," near the top of the window.
    Scroll down until you see Persian and click the checkbox next to it.
    Click the checkbox next to, "Show Input menu in menu bar." This will show a flag in the top right of the menu bar, showing the flag of the language you are currently using.
    Close System Preferences.
    When you want to switch keyboards, click on the flag in the menu bar and select the language you'd like to use.
    Repeat if you would like to add more languages.
