Question about Sony VAIO VGN-NS240E/W Notebook

I have had to replace my Hard Drive. I have a valid product key but No operating system. How do I get a replacement Vista system?

I need a Windows Vista operating system. I have a valid product key but do not have a disk for the OS. Any help would be appreciated.

Go to http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/software-os/w/microsoft_os/3317.2-3-microsoft-windows-vista-official-iso-download-links-digital-river.aspx

Scroll down and download Vista English. Then click the guide of A Clean Install of Windows Vista to make your own istall disk. You need a disk to burn to with at least 2GB storage

There should be a factory image on the HD when you try restarting it. Hold down the F8 key or F10 key while its rebooting this should start the recovery process you shouldnt need a windows disk.

Run diagnostics on the harddrive. if possible reseat the Hard drive, i.e take it out and put it back again. and then try installing the OS. remember you have to boot from the laptop to install OS. Hope you are doing it correctly
