SOURCE: how to change drill bit
Grab the end of the chuck in one hand, and the outer ring of the chuck nearer the motor, and twist the chuck end. try both directions until it loosens.

I have the same problem. The guys at Batterries Plus told me that 7.2 volt battereis are not easily replaced and definately not through them. If you left it charging for to long (ie over a week when you were gone like me) then the battery is never gonna charge again. You might as well find the same model of dril at skil's reconditioned site for around $40 or buy a brand new one for $60 or $70

If it's anything like their other drills, there is a safety screw with left-hand threads inside chuck.

no it is not recommended that you leave it plugged in for much more than it takes to charge the battery ,which incidently i think you will find to be u/s it may not be,just not being charged.your tool store will be able to test them. if it happens they are stuffed ,in that range it will cost more to re place those things than to buy anew one good luck
