SOURCE: my dvd always shows "system error" and won't play commercial copyright dvds, only recorded ones.

I had the same problem with my recorder except that it wouldnt play any discs at all.. I finally unplugged the recorder and left it unplugged for 16 hours. Now it is fine. I am not getting any error messages.

SOURCE: WHEN DVD IS PLACED IN MACHINE IT KEEPS TRYING TO LOAD BUT NO PLAY

yes that is very possible. cleaning the lens of the dvd player should happen atleast once a month. it can also be that the lens itself is scratched or the lase does not reach the disk tracks due to dust or bad handling

SOURCE: Erratic operation of DVD players after a few months of non-use

what you should do is to clean the OPTICAL LENS directly with a dry Q-tip , could be that it collected some dust and thats why its playing erratically, give it a try , AJ

SOURCE: wont recognized disc

I got it work work with mine. Here's how: I removed the top cover and put in a disk to see what happens. I realized it had to be a motor problem because the dvd player was having trouble spinning the disk. I removed the part that had the motor and sprayed some air into it to clean it. It works perfectly now!!

SOURCE: My dvd player stopped loading dvds. It will say

This is a Laser Pickup Assembly issue, the pladder motor that the dvd sits on is not working and has become defective, the only solution is replaced the machine for a new one, not cost effective for repair.

Asus x53u e drive recognized but no working

So you click on the e drive icon and the drawer opens so you can put the dvd in, then you get a message that it is not recognized? The million dollar answer is: It sounds like the DvD is not recognized. Where did you get the dvd that you are trying to play? Did someone make it for you or is it a store purchased dvd?

Computers have problems sometimes with dvd's that someone else made. Maybe the computer is telling you that the DvD Format is not recognized.

Try downloading the VLC Player and see if you can use it to play the dvd.

Try using VLC as your player. Go to www.google.com and in the search box type "download vlc" (without the quotes). Look for the Video Lan download from site www.videolan.org/vlc Download and install it. It downloads and installs in 3 minutes or so. It's a very fast player, smooth and it can play just about any type of dvd formats and media. It's totally FREE.

Check disc

The DVD player's laser pickup assembly is intermittent and since it is brand new and under warranty take it back for replacement. There should be no issue with your TV set.

Marantz Model DV6600 DVD rewind is indicated on screen but will not play. Simply throws up message for all DVDs and CDs - "Disc Error. Please eject the disc. Playback feature may not be...

Usually means the lens needs cleaning. Occasionally, it's a case of the drive binding. Try running a lens cleaner through it first. You'll want the type that's got optical quality brushes built in to the bottom of the disk.

If that doesn't fix it, it's likely a drive issue, which means it's time for replacing the unit - costs more to fix than replace.

Getting message - "can't read" & "no disk"

sounds like the laser is out of synk with the encoders inside the player, to fis this you will need to disconnect everything from it, unscrew it and carefully move the lase all the way to the outside of its track, BE CAREFUL NOT TO TOUCH THE LENSE WITH YOUR FINGER, you may also wish to clean the lense while you are in there anyway. To do this dip a cotton swab in Isopropyl alcohol (the kind you use for cuts and scrapes), and roll the tip accross the lense of the laser, just let it air dry. Reassemble the player and it sould be good to go.

My coby dvd player will not load dvds. After trying to load, I get a message that says "Wrong Disc". I have tried to put in other dvds, but get the same response. These dvds work in our other dvd...

its probably the laser is misaligned. somtimes you can maually reset it by takeing the disc out and sliding the "eye" toward the center. this will possibly break it, but a misaligned laser is not going to work so you;ve got nothing to lose. put in a disc you know is good, no scratches, and turn it on again.
good luck!

Disc error message when load DVD

Are you loading to play or to record?
Commercial DVDs should play.
DVDs for recording may not be recognized by your drive. First make sure that the disc is blank. You must insert a blank disc of the proper format: DVD-R or RW, DVD+R or RW. Even with the proper format, some brands may not behave the same way as other brands.
