Samsung 7150 tv remote has very limited range with some functions

When using the remote to watch stuff on netflix or other apps on the samsung 55" 7150 tv, the range on the remote is reduced to about 2 feet. You can't do anything like change the volume, ff, play, stop, etc... unless you walk all the way up to the tv and push the buttons. No luck with samsung customer service so far either. I also switched the remote out with another one from Costco, where I got the tv. Anyone else have this issue?

There is currently no solution.
See many reports of same problem here... http://forums.cnet.com/7723-13973_102-580746/samsung-remote-not-working-properly/
Samsung has know of this for many months. They claim they can not reproduce the problem... yet a visit to Future Shop Demo TV confirmed the problem

It is sad that a multi-thousand dollar TV can not strem Video and respond to a remote control at the same time.

Try an ir extender, something may be interfering with the rf frequency between the remote and the tv

  • Anonymous Jan 14, 2013

Not sure what that is. If the remote works fine for everything else, I'm not sure that a range extender is the answer for the remote when using apps on the tv. has anyone else had this problem?

SOURCE: Changing Samsung Remote Codes (2 TV's Same Remote Frequency)

There is NO solution to this problem. I'm an electronics engineer. I have three Samsung TV and IR remote extenders. It is a continual problem. If someone told you could "re-program" the Samsung remote, they must have thought you could write assembly level programming code. There is NO incentive for Samsung to modify their highly popular, simple, cheap remote system.
Believe me, I even tried putting polarizing filters over the IR sensors but the ones for cameras do not polarize light at IR frequencies.

SOURCE: Samsung TV remote control

I HAVE THE SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM.

Confirmed with Samsung tech support. Problem is with remote. to fix, simple take the batteries out of the remote. Press and hold the UP Volume button for 2 Mintues (no cheating, it has to be at least 2 minutes), this Reset's the Remote Control. Put the batteries back in. Bob's your uncle. all fixed.

SOURCE: My remote for the samsung htc550 home theater

Press the BD Receiver / TV button twice in quick succession. The light should now be orange which indicates it will operate the Home Cinema system....Pressing it twice again in quick succession will turn the light green indicating it will operate the TV.....Unfortunately the useless operator manual with the system does not tell you this....

How do I connect Netflix to smart samsung tv

Depends on Year of TV. If recent should already have Netflix app. Press the Smart button on the remote and then select the app. Follow the instuctions to log in to your Netflix account. SHould only have to do that once. Next time when you select the app it will automatically load. on some older Samsungs, you have to go to the app store and install the Netflix app first.

How do I download movie on a smart tv via the Internet

First you have to hook up the tv to the internet either using WiFi or an ethernet cable from your modem or router. Not all tvs are WiFi ready, so you may need a cable. Follow the directions in your manual to complete internet setup. Using your smart tv remote control, navigate to apps. You can choose Hulu, Netflix, or many other services for watching shows and movies. You must sign up for their services using your email address and sometimes pay for them with Paypal or a credit card. There may be some apps on your smart tv that are free and do not require signup. Using your remote, navigate around and try different apps and services and see what you can find. The apps with the best content usually require that you sign up, but a smart tv will have some built in "free" stuff to watch.
