We heard a zap and the TV died - JVC Black Crystal Series LCD TV

I have the JVC - JLC 37BC3000 - Black Crystal 3000 Series LCD TV. We have had it just over a year (warranty has expired). The other day while watching the TV we heard a zap and then the TV went dead. The TV does not turn on since then, no indicator lights, not a thing when we try to turn it on. Any idea what is wrong? Is it even worth trying to fix it?

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

SOURCE: My PROTRON LCD PLTV 32 IS BLACK & DEAD

I had a pwer supply for my Protron 32 inch TV that was not working. I bought the one on ebay and it stopped working after only three weeks. Ultimately I found a guy who could fix my original power supply for a reasonable price. It been working for a year now with no problems. I wish I would have tried him first!!!! If anyone is interested his email is dave@thola.com.

If the cost of repair is 50% or more of the price you purchase the TV at, your better off buying a new TV.

SOURCE: JVC LT-32P679 Blinking Power Light, Automatic Shutoff

1. Hold [menu] and [vol-] button on the side of the TV
2. while holding these, press the [power] button on the side of TV (NOT remote)
3. blue light comes ON and stays ON
4. wait 10 seconds then let go of [menu] and [vol-]
5. wait another 30 seconds and some type of picture should appear

I think this is right. I got it from the JVC call centers guys so sorry if I missed or messed up a step.

Composite video outputs of DVD to composite video inputs of tv.

Or HDMI output on DVD to HDMI input on tv.

If no matching sets you can always get adapters to do the deed.

Put in new blub and heard a zapping sound is bulb bad or tv?

Check the bulb is not damaged and is inserted fully into the socket. The bulb needs several thousand volts to ignite which would be the sparking noise you heard if not connected properly.
