CAD GXL2200 stopped working.

The first thing you can try is to unscrew the base by turning counter-clockwise, holding the body and screen together carefully. Then carefully slide the main body sleeve downward, and off. The rest of the mic is held together with a frame. You will be able to inspect all the internal wiring and solder joints for poor connections or cracks, The rear PC board is held on by two tiny Philips screws. Remove them and slowly lift the back PC board - it is connected by 3 short wires. This will just allow you to inspect the PC board for bad solder joints or cracks in the metal film. If that doesn't help, you may have to start removing and testing diodes and transistors etc.

BTW, on the front board you will find a tiny lo-cut switch I'll bet you didn't know you had.

I just bought a CAD gxl2200sp microphone and I plugged it into the phantom power converter and then into my computer and it doesn't pick up any audio. What am I doing wrong?

The usual procedure when a mic is not working - check that the phantom power (+48V) is working, then try another cable.

If the mic is out of warranty and you're low on bucks, you might have to fix it. Unscrew the base, carefully holding the body sleeve up against the screen. Then carefully slide off the body to expose the PC boards. Check the boards and wires for cracked copper film and bad solder joints. Two tiny Philips screws will allow you to remove the REAR board for full inspection of both. If all is good physically, start checking components with a multimeter. (if you don't know how, StartPage it.) The circuit is similar to the one below, EXCEPT there is a low cut switch on the CAD 2200. If you find a bad component, most of them are pretty cheap to replace.

Can I connect a CAD GXL2200SP Condenser Mic to a computer?

Technically, you can plug any microphone into a computer via an audio interface or USB(if applicable) With this mic it will require an audio interface just remember that since you are using a condenser you will need an interface that can supply phantom power. Good Luck, Cody J.

I cant seem to be able to record anything on my microphone it is not picking up any sound. Why is that?

your CAD mic is a condensor mic and needs phantom power. If you don't have that it won't work. If you need phantom power you can get it from a small mixer. We here at proline carry some small multi channel mixers that have phantom power in them. call 215-736-8055

Dell latitude d600, mic works sometimes

The Mic is on the same board that the power button is on.. there is a problem with this board,, the problem is were the power button board plugs into the main board....... when you push down on the power button your affecting the mic''s conection to the main board,, {Its a bad plug}

The Mic is found next to the power button.. to the left look for a small pinhole,, ....try pushing down to the right side of that.. test Mic when you do this,,,

You need a new main [mother] board to fix

Shure sm58 mic does not have full power

You should consider a microphone with more power to get the volume you need. I can personally recommend the CAD C195 Cardoid Condensor microphone. It has great output. The only downsidefor most people is that they don't have phantom power. This is what gives the mic its boost. In order to get the most out of any micrphone, you need to have a preamp, an equilizer, and an output. The output is your PA system that drumbanger mentioned.

But since you are using a Peavey, here is my strong recommendation. Get a mini preamp, and hook it up to your Peavey. You can use a Behringer 2mic mixing board for your preamp. It's small, and it can sit right on top of the Peavey.

XENYX 1002

CAD C195

The reason why I suggest the two-mic XENYX 802 and not the 1 channel 502, is that the 1 channel doesn't have phantom power.

In order to connect the XENYX to your Peavey, this is all you need. You can get one at radio shack for pretty cheap.
