Question about Home Security

Open Question

Good day! I have an old model garage door opener and a remote that works, but cannot get my second remote programmed. Could it be the wrong frequency?

Here are all the model nbrs, etc that I could find. I have tried using the sync / learn button in various ways - press remote button and hold, then press and hold learn button for 10 - 30 sec and release both, etc. I have not yet tried to GDO: Sears Craftsman Mod# 139.18415 Part# 41A3625 FCC ID: HBW1D3605 Remote#1 (works) Sears Craftsman Mod# 139.18778 FCC ID: HBW1D3469 Remote#2 (not working) 102 278 07/97 953 CB FCC ID: HBW1D1203 There is also a wired keyless nbr pad mounted outside and 2 interior buttons that all work fine, tho' I have never managed to reprogram the keypad since moving in and would also like to do that. If I have to get another remote can you possibly suggest a compatible model? I would like to know if remote#2 is broken or just the incompatible (wrong frequency?) so I can give it to someone who can use it if I cannot. Your assistance is greatly appreciated. AWS

I don't know why this is listed under "surveillance cameras", and I can't seem to change it to "garage door openers".. Sorry!

SOURCE: The door will open from

Hi,

Did you try changing the battery in the remote?

If this is not the case, then I find that most of the time the remote is old and or failing and needs replacement.

If that does not help, the next step is to reprogram the remote again. You could always try to use another remote to eliminate faulty remote.

More probably,it would be an issue with remote. In case, if that does not solve the problem then it is either failing sensor or control board which needs to be inspected and then replaced. But, start with batteries, then reprogram. Use another remote. If the problem still remains, then you need to inspect the sensor or board.

Note - On few remotes, there is LED at the front. So, you could always check whether there is any signal sent by the remote or not.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

I can't get my older garage door remotes to program with the new unit.Do I have to buy new remotes?

SORRY TO SAY.THE ANSWER IS YES.
THE NEW OPENERS ARE NOT ON THE SAME FREQUENCY.

YOU CAN PURCHASE REMOTES THAT WILL WORK WITH BOTH OLD AND NEW OPENERS (DUAL FREQUENCY).
BUT, OLD REMOTES WILL NOT WORK WITH THE NEW OPENERS.

YOU NEED TO MAKE SURE YOUR REMOTE IS THE SAME FREQUENCY AS THE EXISTING UNITS.

IF YOU LOOK ON THE BACK OF THE REMOTE THERE SHOULD BE A FREQ# IF THEY ARE NOT THE SAME YOU NEED TO EXCHANGE THE REMOTE.

IS MY 139.53754-01 REMOTE COMPATIBLE WITH MY 139.53674SRT2 GARAGE DOOR OPENER?

This is the most difficult question to answer because technologies and frequencies have changed and there is not a good way to check. If you program the opener to this remote and your other remotes quit working or if it will not program at all then you know the answer.

Our garage door opens at random times throughout the day and night. Can this be adjusted somehow? Thanks for the help! Good day

Try looking in your user manual or on the internet about how to change the frequencies used by the garage door remote and reciever. I'm guessing it is picking up signals from some appliance on the same frequency, either in your house or nearby. Also, try nearby houses' remotes on your door– it could be them interfering with you.

Programing keyless remote

The odds are the keypad will not work with your new opener. The radio frequency has been changed on the new openers. But if you want to try you just press and immediately release the smart/learn button on the motor unit and then walk over to the keypad and key in your 4 digit code and press enter. These instructions are for a wireless keypad.

Remotes won't work

Sounds like a frequency issue. A remote work like the radio in your where each station is on a different frequency. Some signal is interfering with you frequency (390Mhz) You could try another brand external receiver with new remotes or with that old of an operator you might just think about replacing the operator (don't go with "Wayne Dalton")

I cannot get my garage door opener to program to my new remote - I have tried the method they recommend (pressing the button and timing).

YOU MOST LIKELY HAVE THE WRONG REMOTE.

THEY HAVE CHANGED THE FREQUENCY OF THE OPENERS.

BE SURE TO CHECK THAT THE REMOTE YOU PURCHESD WILL WORK WITH YOUR OPENER.

IF THE LED NEXT TO THE PROGRAM BUTTON FLICKERS WHEN YOU PRESS THE REMOTE - IT IS SENDING A SIGNAL.
