How can I download Nikon Coolpix 990 Images to Computer

You first should remove the usb cable from the camera. Then check if you did not force anything in the camera USB connector. If so please remove , but not with a sharp tool. if that is not wrong. please remove the battery and after a few moments reinsert the battery and switch on again. If that also not works, go back to the dealer, or contact a Nikon certified repair centre.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You dont need the disc to download to computer.Take the card from the camera and put it into the card reader on your computer if one is fitted, if not you need one that goes into a USB slot When the card is inserted into the reader a box will open on the screen with several options as to view images or download them.

I would also download Picasa 3 which puts your photos in date order and also has photo editing. This is a free download and is part of google.

That is the only Nikon software that supports Vista since your camera is "outdated".
