SOURCE: stiff hinge pin

These systems use a pretty generic hinge set-up. These can be dealt with in two ways, one involving a safer method for future adjustments. The hinges are two separate bars on each side of the monitor with friction cuffs that use the tension between their two pieces to hold the monitor stiff. Generally my experience with Acer models is that they ALL ship with pretty stiff hinges, which is a double-edged blade. Stock hinges that don't click when fresh have a tendency to need replacing after a couple years, where as my acer TM4K hinges are still strong today after 4. The best way to loosen these babies up is to just use it. About an average of 75 open/close cycles break in the hinge to where it stays nice & tight, but stops clicking or cracking. The other way, which is for those who are afraid the LCD housing will crack it's so tight, is to take the monitor off, but not apart, carefully using two pairs of needle-nose pliers, hold steady the monitor end with one set and with the other, flex the flat end of the now loose hinge back and forth as far as you can get it to move until you feel it is to the right strength.

It helps to mention that too little is better than too much, as I see a good amount of people burnt out with their Compaq Evo & Presario (ca.2001-2) hinges, falling to the ground soon as you let it go, only 6 months after their last replacement set.

Yes, you can fix it. Go to www.repairclinic.com and look up the model number of your d/w, select the parts that are damaged and you have a new d/w.
Have fun.

SOURCE: Door very stiff won't close tight

I have the same problem with the side doors of my 04 express. I put penetrating oil on the hinge pin with a hypodermic needle (hard to find). It is important that the oil gets into the hinge. I bent one set of hinges and broke a hinge because I waited too long to oil the hinge. The door may not close correctly because the hinge may be slightly bent. Keep all other hinges well lubed especially during the winter months when the hinges can be exposed to road salt. Fixing a bent hinge is difficult at best.

My whirlpool dishwasher model # WDT780SAEM1 makes a loud popping noise when I open and shut the door. What is causing it and how do I fix it?

The loud popping noise that you're hearing when you open and shut the door of your Whirlpool dishwasher (model # WDT780SAEM1) is most likely caused by the door gasket. The door gasket is the rubber seal that runs around the door, creating a tight seal when the door is closed.
Here are a few things you can try to fix the issue:
  1. Check the gasket for damage: Inspect the door gasket for any tears, cracks, or other damage. If you find any damage, you will need to replace the gasket.
  2. Clean the gasket: Over time, debris and food particles can accumulate on the gasket, causing it to become stiff and not seal properly. Clean the gasket with a mild detergent and warm water, and then dry it thoroughly.
  3. Check the door alignment: Make sure that the door is properly aligned and not hitting the gasket when you open and shut it. If the door is not aligned properly, you will need to adjust it.
  4. Lubricate the hinge: If the door gasket is in good condition and properly aligned, the problem may be with the hinge. Try lubricating the hinge with a silicone-based lubricant, as this can help to reduce friction and noise.
  5. Contact Whirlpool: If you have tried all of the above steps and are still unable to fix the issue, contact Whirlpool customer service for further assistance. They will be able to provide you with additional troubleshooting steps or advice, or they may need to send a technician to repair or replace the dishwasher.
It's important to note that if the popping noise you're hearing is accompanied by other symptoms, such as leaks, then it may be related to a different problem, and you should contact Whirlpool customer service or a professional service technician for further diagnosis and repair.

How do i fix a broken spring on a dishwasher door

You will need to pull the dishwasher out about 12" to 18" to be able to get to the springs & rope links. Many dishwashers use a "rope link" to connect between the spring and the door hinge; and in others, the door springs connect directly to the door hinges. Once you pull the dishwasher out, you will easily see what broke and what you need to fixe it.

My child stepped on the open dishwasher door. now it won't close. is this something i can fix?

I had this exact same story with my new Whirlpool dishwasher. My daughter fell on the open dishwasher door and afterwards it wouldn't latch closed. After researching online, I learned that 90% of the time it's bent door hinges. At $$130 each, $260 total, I didn't want to replace the hinges. So I removed the hinges, took them downstairs to my shop, put them in the vise and straightened them back with a hammer. Just took a few good, solid hits on each hinge and they were straight again. I installed them back onto the dishwasher and it worked like a charm! Door latches just fine.

Door has problems opening will only open half way if you try to open over and over eventually rights itself

Remove lower panel, get on the floor, and look at hinges and spring mechanism. Look for anything obstructing movement or any bent parts.

Microwave door does not shut tightly

If your oven door has gotten bent or warped (maybe you rested something heavy on it…), you need to remove the door, disassemble it, and straighten it. You can lift most oven doors off of their hinges by opening the door several inches to its first "stop," and lifting the entire door straight up.

If the hinges have become worn, damaged, or bent, you probably need to replace them. We recommend replacing both hinges at the same time, to prevent uneven wear of the undamaged hinge.

Intermittent power supply

Check the wires as they pass out the door. Repeated bending can cause breaks. (sometimes the wires will be separated inside the insulation, making it more difficult to find than if the wire breaks in two)
