Marantz sr1041 volume problem

After accidentally unplugging the stereo while playing at a moderate-high volume (less than half power), the volume stopped working. The stereo emits a very low and weak sound with a fixed volume level (impossible to turn up or down), and impossible to hear from the speakers (it is so low that you can only hear it plugging in headphones). The stereo is 10years old and this has never happened before. Any idea of how I could solve the problem myself or where to go in London? Thank you, Ross

SOURCE: Low volume on left channel of Sony STR-GX4ES

The headphone is tapped before the final stage of the amp, so knowing that those work properly helps to isolate the problem. I think that this model uses an IC for the voltage amp section prior to the final amp stage. That being said, the IC is probably an UPC2598 (if memory serves). I'll confirm tonight. Try resoldering any connections that appear to be grainy or have rings. Let me know what you find.

SOURCE: PINs for high level input

Hello gmb_66,

You did not specify exactly which Jensen amp you have. None of the Jensen PowerPlus series I found had high-level inputs. You can go here and select your amp to download the manual. They should also have the connector for speaker inputs.

Most amps that have both high-level and RCA inputs allow you to use one or the other, but not both at the same time. If your head unit has RCA ourputs, those would be the ones to use, because they generally provide a cleaner signal to the amp with less noise.

Hope this helps.

I have a marantz 2238b receiver and a magnasonic dvd 824-2. . where do I connect the cable to watch movies?

To play audio from your DVD player through the 2238b, you will need to hook the RCA left an right outputs from the DVD to the Aux IN on the back of the 2238b. Then you will need to power on the 2238b and place the selector switch to the Aux position. Lastly, adjust the volume to a level you are comfortable with and that should be it.

Thanks

Marantz SR9200 shuts off intermittently while watching or listining.

Check all speaker connections. unplug everything.. start with just L and R speakers. Do a mic calibration..also check all your source inputs to the amp. start from the basics. Is the amp still under factory warranty? I used to install marantz...also make sure unit is well ventilated. IF you are using audio zones in your place..with in wall volume controls..make sure they are impedance matched. VOLUME may be set to high...overdriving the outputs..eventhough audio may not be loud. Set volume to -30...?

Marantz dedicated amplifier squeals

The symptom sounds like a feeback loop. As long as that indicator is showing near maximum output on one channel AVOID ATTACHING ANY SPEAKERS TO IT!!!! You'll cook the tweeters.

Turn it off and manually operate every control, knob and pushbutton throughout its range many times to wipe oxides away from their conductors.

Set all EQ controls to their midpoints and re-evaluate.

We don't know if it's an input or output problem yet. Does it do that with all inputs?

Marantz pm 7200 lost sound, only works when volume is up high, still looks like there are no high or medium frequencies.

You have either lost the pre-amp stage or the Main Amp stage. Since you have a problem on both channels it most be a part that is common to both channels. Something like an IC I would suspect.

How do you hook up your ipod through the rca cable hookups in the back without the radio still playing?

This is different on every stereo, but generally the RCA ports in the back of the stereo are labeled "Aux" or something to that extent.

First, you must purchase a headphone jack to RCA cable which can connect to both your stereo and your ipod.

Connect the cable, turn your ipod on and start playing a song. Turn the volume on the stereo to a moderate volume so you can hear when the song is being played through your stereo. Then, using the selector switch, turn the stereo from "Radio" to "Aux" or whatever it says next to the the RCA plug ins on the back.

JVC Car stereo with cd shuts off when volume is turned up

Hi Ithink , you are trying to push too much power to your speaker setup. Your cd, tuner, player, is only go as loud as the volume at half way setting. Your speakers are , probally good ones that want more power, and making your player overheat and making circut protection cut power. I would say, you should use it at 15, and that is as loud as it should be played to aviod distortion and overheating.
I'm guessing max is like 25 or 30, Is that so? You can listen to louder tunes by installing an amplifier. Or if you have an amp in your system it may be overheating, I would really like you to let me know if you have been trying use it at volume higher than half the maxium volume setting, so I know I helped, and you can start looking into power amp's. You can crank it up for good parts, but most players were not made to send alot of juice to good big speakers at high volume level.
Tell me what you think, tooldoc
