I dropped my phone, and it turned off...I now have it charging but the screen stays lit with a grey and black battery with a red strike going through it. When I press the on button, nothing happens it has been like this for 3 hours now.

Re: BATTERY WT RED STRIKE FILLS SCREEN
I have the same phone and this also happened to me. When you droped the phone the battery got dislodged from the battery compartment. Unplug the cell phone then remove the back of the phone. To do that press the button at the back of the cell phone at the button, slide the cover up ward. Then remove the battery for at least 30 seconds then put it back in again. Put the bottom of the battery in first then the top ,make sure the battery is in firmly. Replace the cover then turn it on again.

You can try a master reset which your provider will be able to provide the steps to you on how to do it, or the manufacturer's website. if a reset doesn't fix it than you need to get a new phone through your replacement options for this is a device issue.
go to www.blackberry.com and download the desktop manager for your phone and service provider and reinstall the software. if it is an unlocked phone you need to navigate to the common files/rim and delete the vender file first.
I feel your pain. My g1 droped, the screen cracked, now 3 weeks later my screen turns black. Not even turning it off or removing the battery for hours changes this. However, i found if you wiggle the screen just right sometimes you can get your screen back... for a little bit.
Try restoring the blackberry using the blackberry firmware update utility, if the problem persists, it's a logic board issue. there are blackberry repair
websites that show you how to do the replacement yourself, otherwise
here is a service that can repair any Blackberry Bold, Storm, Pearl,
Curve, 8800 for screen, lenses,
track balls, usb ports, waterdamage etc.
The website is: Blackberry Repair
I've had this happen. Try a soft reset, if that doesn't fix it - try a hard reset. If it still does this, you will need to replace the battery. It may either be a problem with the battery itself or the power regulation circuit that is built into the battery. Either way, replace the battery and it should fix it. Word of warning though, some aftermarket chargers actually reverse-charge the battery - I had a USB charge/data cradle that did this and I still have short-lived battery life on my new E2 battery if I use that cradle. I just stopped using it because it kills my E2.
MY Lx DOES THAT ALL THE TYME SINCE I DROPPED IT N WATER. (LOL) BUT I JUS TAKE MY BATTERY OUT WHIPE THE METALS PIECES THAT CONNECT 4RM THE BATTERY 2 THE PHONE & LEAVE IT OUT 4 ABOUT 10 MINUTES THEN TRY IT AGAIN & IT CUTS BACK ON...
hey, i had the same problem and i fixed it. i took the battery out and saw the 4 golden tabs behind the battery. there was two tabs that u could pull out. i lightly pulled them out a little bit. the problem was that the tabs wouldnt hit the battery to charge it. thats why it put the tri colored screen on the front. also my charger fit into the charging hole in the phone, but it had to be moved around to much that it did not fit exactly. I have been rough with the charger so it moved the inside of my phone around. i put the charger in the phone and moved it around gently around untill the light lit up on the front at the top by the word at&t. after it was completly charged, i turned it on and it worked perfectly. i hope this helps in whoever may have this problem because i know it sucks! Thanks
this happened with my first blackberry and it never turned back on guess what softwar glitch it was never goig to work again so i got a new one the second one started having issues within a month and eventually got to the point where i couldnt wifi it would turn off on me for no reason tell me i had no service when i should have hang up on people freeze and simply sucked took it in to get it fixed guess what another software glitch that one went to blackberry heaven and i got another one this one is only 1 month old has all updated software and hey guess what no issues at all i suppose every phone has bugs in it to begin with look the aple iphone blew up when it first came out until they fixed the issues with it.
if your on a plan ur under warranty with blackberry take it back and there policy basically replaces the phone.
I am having the same problem - it won't hold a charge. Red light shows it is charging, but nothing.
It may be the battery. I just called S.E. and they said it may be the battery.
I ended up getting a new phone since batteries cost almost as much as a new phone.
