SOURCE: PS3 does not turn on. When I press the on button, red light turns green thne to yellow then to flashing red.

This is called a System Error. It is about the same as the Xjunks ring of death. You need to call Sony if you haven't broken your seal yet.

SOURCE: ps3 will not turn on

Your playstation is oficially broken and needs to either be replaced or repaired. Sony will fix this problem for $150.00 through their website(under warranty its free). This problem happened because it overheated and the soder melted to the point where the componets shut down and the unit went into safe mode :( :(

SOURCE: when i turn on ps3

Hello there Kevin

If you have the brief flashing yellow light, then its followed by a red blinking light then you have the yellow light of death AKA the YLOD.

The lights are a warning sign to let you know something is wrong. I can give you the quick explanation, There are 2 chips on the motherboard inside the PS3, the GPU (graphics) and the CPU (brain), when playing the ps3 the solder heats up and when you finish playing it cools down, over time this will cause the soldering to crack and the chips to lose connection with the motherboard and you get the YLOD.

WHERE TO GO FROM HERE

Option 1 - Call Sony

In warranty the Price is Free, out of warranty the Price is $150, the whole process is 4-6 weeks

You can call Sony and they will collect the PS3, repair/replace, and deliver the PS3 back to you

Option 2 - Fix it your Self

You can use a PS3 fix manual to get this fixed easily and at home using household tools you probably already own.

Click here to know more on PS3 Fix Manuals which has helped so many people like you.

Good luck

Best regards

Peter

Blown board. Most in home appliances don't have circuit protectors. That's why the made surge strips. But these won't protect against direct electrical strikes.

Why wont my ps3 turn on

The problem might have to do with a power thing maybe the power switch i mean maybe the power at your home went down and that causes the PS3 to basically be unusable, what i would recomend is to go and make a diagnostic to your playstation, im not sure where but im sure that if you google it you might find cheap places to see whats wrong with your ps3Good luck!! :D

If you got hit with a power surge from a lightning strike, it can come into a device from the AC outlet OR the telephone line. I suspect the modem (needed for FAX) section of your machine is fried. If this is in a home office, you should really have a 'whole house' surge protector installed to avoid business interruptions.
We have the Intermatic IG-1300-2T; for 4 telephone line protection it is : IG-1300-4T
Simple to install in the main breaker box and both include 5 years of insurance for losses of $10,000.
You can see them here:
Intermatic Surge Arrestors
The 4 line model (4T) is currently on sale.

When i turn on my ps3 the green light comes on and thats it there is no sound and it dosent come up my television what do i do ?

you need to reset the video press on the on button on the console as if u would normally be turning it on but hold it for 5 secs and it'll reset you'll hear it beep again and it will turn off so just turn it back again and it should work. I found the answer here on fixya I just did it to mine like 20mn ago because it had the same problem; my ps3 is working now.

I have a 02 electral glide ultra classic that keeps blowing the accessories fuse. as soon as i put a new 15 amp fuse in it blows. turn signals, brake lights and the spped odometer stop working.

In this case, you're going to need a wiring schematic to trouble shoot the problem. You'll have to disconnect the power lead to each device that the fuse provides power to. Then, replace the fuse and start reconnecting the devices one at the time. When you connect a device and the fuse blows, you have found the problem. I do not have schematics for bikes newer than 1999, I'm sorry.

Good Luck

Unplug it and then blow a hairdryer at the power supply for 3 minutes. Leave the lid on, just blow the hairdryer at it from the outside. Craziest trick I ever saw.

After that, turn off hibernation. And eventually, replace your power supply.

Lightning strike came in via cable not power.

Your tv is going to need internal repairs. I recommend using our premium service to help walk you through these repairs. Or contact a local repair service.

To avoid this in the future I recommend an inline surge protector or a "green" switch.

An inline surge protector makes sure that all power to your tv comes through at the same level and does not spike or fall. It has a battery backup as well.

A green switch is a way of rewiring your home or your entertainment center to allow you to disconnect all power to your entertainment center when you are away, when a storm is coming, or when you are simply not using the system. A remot control can restore the power.

The average home entertainment center has one of the highest drains on electricity in the average home for appliances that are not in use. that is what makes the green switch appealing.
