Question about Refrigerators
Hello, I have a GE model PDE18LBRARSS. The fridge is warm and the freezer cooler than usual. The other night the fridge wok me up as it was making a fairly loud noise, which eventually stopped. I've looked at the ouside back and there was some accumulation of dust which I removed. I adjusted the temperature controls, turning them off and back on. The door is properly closed. I can hear a small fan-like noise but the the full usual sound indicating that the fridge is working as usual. I also ensured that the electrical plug and outlet are ok as well as the breakers, and all seems fine from an electrical in-home point of view. Grateful for any advice. JB

There are 2 possible problems. One is the defrost cycle is not working properly this is usually indicated by a large amount of frost on the back freezer panel. If so, the circuit will have to be repaired and the evaperator thawed to remove the ice build up. The other is the fresh food damper is not working properly this is behind the "lump" in the back of the fridge compartment above the top shelf, remove the louver panel to see if it is open or closed. closed will be warm open should be cold. The water dispenser reservoir is probably frozen due to poor air circulation.

The same fan that circulates air in the freezer also blows air in to the fridge. If you open the freezer door and hold the door switch closed you should hear the fan running. If not you have a failed motor or motor control. Look at the back wall of the freezer section and see if there is a heavy frost build up. If so. you have a defrost system problem. Please post back with what you find and with the complete model number and I will try to walk you through the steps of checking everything.

It seem this problem is common to all 88031. One of my customer have 8 of this model in her motel rooms and all problems are the same as your's. My experience in refrigeration and electronic board tell to me this problem is from the fact of humidity comming from everyware(diff. of tempereture, electronic board near the floor, heating from the refrigerator, etc. I find a lot of trace of humidity on the board.
Anyway, like we said in Abitibi, your dog is dead and the only solution is to litter it in a safe place and by a new but this time with a compressor to make cooling, not a fuc.......electronic board.
