Question about Panasonic PT-53WX42 53" Rear Projection Television
Entire screen has green tint/hue to it. It has this on all input situations ie; games, DVD, cable, vcr etc. All conections are tight and of high quality. I have digital cable/HD feed. Night scenes and dark areas of picture are greenish. Cannot get out with routine on screen adjusting of color, tint, picture etc. It gets better but is still there. The green screen is especially pronounced when viewing one of the inputs screens which has no signal to it-ie; a black screen- the black screen is not black at all, it's green. Another posting states may be lack of red-if this is the case-can I get into the service menu setup and make some adjustments?, or how else do I do this?-the tube lenses have been "dusted off" recently-but nothing else has been done. I did take off the back panel to view the inside and see if something looked "loose" of "fishy", to no avail. The insides of this beauty are quite intimidating. I consider myself the handyman type as I can do many different household/automotive "fixing", but this baby looks challenging, especially with the x-radiation warning tags plastered all over the inside panel. PS. I have read you can really screw up in service menu mode if you do not know what your doing, but I am willing to take that risk if it will help since this unit is a little aged(2002). Don't want to pay a $$$$ service/troubleshooting call if it is within my capability to do. Thanks!
The first thing I check for this problem when doing a service call is the screen control. It sounds like it needs to be turned down a bit. The screen controls are in the front of the set. Pull off the front speaker grill, you have to pull it off there are no screws and it's a little tough to pull. Remove the panel behind the speaker grill. The screen control is normally black with 6 controls. 3 controls labeled Focus and 3 controls labeled Screens. The center controls are for the green. Find the controls that are labeled Green and turn it counter clockwise until the black is not green anymore. If there is glue on the control, then, peel it off. You may have to adjust it a bit to get the right alignment. When the set is turned on, only use one hand inside the set.

The problem may return as it is probably a bad screen control or a flakey CRT, you may be disassembling it every month or two to adjust, but if you know how to do it, then I guess that is ok to a point also.
