Rookie question:I have a 12yr old Goodman model GMP 050-3 furnace w/ Honeywell thermostat.I want to a Nest digital thermostat but red line doesn't have enough juice to power the Nest. My options?

I'm guessing your blue wire is your common and red is hot. You need a voltage meter. Should have 24 volts with R&B. If not either you blew the 5 or 3 amp fuse when hooking up or your wiring is wrong. If there is an outlet close you can test red to ground and see if you have 24. If you do have 24 blue is either not common or its unhooked or shorting on something. Good Luck!! Fuse would be internal , car style, turn power off and open furnace to inspect.

Manual foe a RCH9300WF

It's pretty basic actually. I've done this with Nest and Honeywell Lyric. The only thing you need to do is removing the current thermostat from the wall and connect the new one.

Set it up using your mobile application and you're good to go.

Maytag DE810 Dryer takes too long to dry

Have you checked the Hose and the pipe that exits your wall? Sometimes birds will nest in them. Pull the dryer out and run it without the hose connected to test it.

I have a ComfortMaker SoftSound 1000+ model CAC036akc4. Is this a heat pump model. I'm trying to install a nest thermostat and can't get it to work.

The model number you provided is for a 3 ton a/c only. Not a heat pump.

If you are installing a digital thermostat, the problem may be in the configuration menu. It will have to be told what system you are asking it to control....1 stage heat and 1 stage cool would be the standard residential hvac system.

Make sure there is a jumper between the terminals Rc and Rh to make sure both heating and cooling cycles will work. There should be a dip switch on the sub base to select either electric heat or gas heat. Verify all your wiring connections are correct. Thermostat connections: Rh terminal is 24v power for the heat cycle. Rc is the 24v power for the cool cycle. W terminal is the heat connection. G terminal is the fan control connection. Y1 is the a/c connection. If you have a "C" connection, that is the 24v common connection that should be connected to the control transformers common connection in the furnace.

Remove the thermostat from the system (just remove the R wire from the circuit board in the FAU) and see if the problem continues. If it doesn't fix it, the circuit board on the furnace should be replaced (something would be seriously wrong with the controls). If the problem stops and you have a nest thermostat (they do this kind of thing often) talk to Nest customer support, they have a solution using a capacitor. If you dont have a nest, replace your current thermostat as it would be faulty.

New Nest thermostat, Model 2.8 Software version 4.0.1 keeps getting a low battery and shuts off and shuts down the furnace. Please help.

Do you have a common wire? The nest thermostat needs the common 24V C wire installed to keep the battery charged fully. Nest should tell consumers of this problem, but they don't. Its required for any powered thermostat. Even the new fancy Honeywells with touch screens etc..

Gotta realize the battery cannot run the display and wifi plus all the sensors for very long.

Nest thermostat user manual

You simply check the package for the user's manual or just surf the web and watch vids on YouTube. I've also found a cool guide that explains how to use Nest and Ecobee3, and set them up.
