SOURCE: dyson dc17 animal stopped sucking. brush still

Make sure the flexible hose that connects the beater brush housing up to the connection up by the dust bin is still connected. It could also have a hole in it so check for that as well.

I have a dyson animal d17 i have taken apart completly and cleaned all filters and clogs and i still have little to no suction and wont turn on in the upright position

With no suction you should check the venturis. They can become clogged if you suck up wet dust, wet cat litter, etc. You\'ll need a Torx Screwdriver to get it apart. See where that gets you.

My dyson dc17 stopped working while I was using it and would not power back on. The unit felt warm to the touch. Filters and collection area were realatively clean. Are there and safety switches or fuses?

These types of vacuums get clogs in the hose system pretty easily and frequently. Detach the hose and try to roll a marble through it. If it's plugged, well, the marble won't go through. Try holding the wrong end of the hose to the intake, turn th emachine on. This may help loosen the clog.
If the hose is clear, check the intake port on the tank. There may be a bunch of gunk there that will be easy to clean out.
Another possibility is the short tube/hose in the power head. You can try the marble trick here as well. Simply drop it into the port where the hose would attach and let roll through to the other end. If it doesn't, somethings stuck. This will probably be difficult to clean out if there is. A shop call may be necessary.

I can't get the top lid off my dyson dc17. It's

You need to get a long handled t-15 driver or a t-15 bit and a bit holder and extension for a 1/4" drive socket set (12" or longer extension) to get this apart. There are only something like 6 pcs in there and once you get it apart, cleaning it is very easy. Here's a good website on how to take it apart and put it back together. I have done this and it makes a difference. Be sure to sanitize everything once you have it apart. Takes out any funky smells.

on the back of the vaccuum theres is a screw with a ubend hose...did you remove that? I have had things stuck in there which stopped suction? you may want to check that. also take the wand off and look through to make sure you can see light through it...sometimes I do that and notice there is something in there when i cant see light through it
