You have to carefully remove the clear lenses that hold the labels in place on either side of the canister to get at the inner filter. I used two very small (about 1/8 in wide) screwdrivers at the bottom of each lens about 1 1/2 inches in from either side to pop it out. The lenses have 2 prongs on each side of the clip that extend into the vacuum about 1/2 inch, so be careful not to break them off when removing the lens.

Rainbow e2 vaccum has water in basin but separator not filtering water

The separator doesn't filter the water. It allows air to go through the machine but not the water. It "separates" the air and water, hence the name.

My rainbow vacuum cleaner is not working - the air filter part is working fine but when I switch it to vacuum it doesn't start it does nothing . what could this be ? It's the latest model e2 black

If it works on slow but not on high you probably have a bad PC board. The E2 is prone to board failures. take it to you local vac shop fro assessment.

Rainbow e2 will not power on no smell just turned itself off motor spins freely

Try turning it off and on a few times. They have a lot of trouble with the on/off switch.

I want to take apart and clean my D4C Rainbow and my E series 1 speed, I bought both of them on Ebay, and both have odors,( They are suppose to be the vacuum that cleans and purifies the air) that leaves...

Sorry, but a Rainbow D4 has no filtration at all. The E series has a HEPA filter that needs replacing. You can put liquid Lysol in the water on the D4 and that will help

Rainbow E2 2 speed vacuum motor whines at startup

I used to sell rainbow vacuums and this latest 2 speed model does whine when it is first turned on. So you definately have nothing to worry about. I believe this is due to the fact that this motor is much more powerful than in the previous 1 speed E series model. I finally just purchased a 2 speed model after many many years of wanting one. Good luck to ya and enjoy your clean house!

My e series rainbow smells very badly... my teenager often leaves the water in for days and that nasty smell has saturated the sweeper itself. How do I get the smell out

You should always put a new hepa filter in any E and E2 series Rainbow vacuum, when it taken to a new home, or every two Years, or so, or if your Doughter makes it get funky smelling. :-) It will smell like the home that it was in, or how ever it smells, until you do.

You can also use fragrances, and deodorizer air freshener in your vacuum, which not only eliminates odors, it add fresh aromas to your air that you breath, in your home, also.

Replace the hepa filter first thing.

The water separator is the thing that spins in the center of the motor where your water basin attaches to it. It looks like a cone shaped fan looking thing. It should be cleaned after every use.

Use your Rainbow separator cleaning brush, or a tooth brush, if you do not have the Rainbow one. They are just like tooth brushes.

Never store your Rainbow canister on your water basin, with or without water in it. It can and will ruin your vacuum in dew time.

I don't know how to take apart me Rainbow e2 series vac.

I recently took mine apart because the motor stopped working. Realized the brushes were pretty well worn down and one side was completely gone. I was looking on the internet for detailed instructions on how to take it apart. I ended up just ripping it apart with no problems but made a tutorial to help you guys out. Here's a link to it

http://www.vacuumcleanerforum.com/f20/21715-how-take-your-rainbow-vaccum-apart.html

This is for the e-series vaccum, not the e2 but they pretty much have the same design and same motor (e2 has a 2 stage motor).
