Question about Whirlpool GS6SHEXMB / GS6SHEXMQ / GS6SHEXMT Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

Clicking noise Ice maker started clicking after about 18 months. Clicking noise was continuous as long as ice maker was on, but went off when ice maker was switched off. Water dispenser also started clicking when used and dispenser light flashed intime with clicks. Water also dispensed in 'spurts' in time with clicking. Recently clicking noise comes and goes at any time, but is getting more frequent. I suspect a solenoid, but would appreciate some guidance on the difficulty of locating and replacing.

Ice dispenser solenoid continually clicks

If the ice maker is working ok and you can live with the noise leave it alone. Eventually the solenoid will fail.

Don't worry though it's an easy fix. You'll need to replace both the ice maker and the water dispenser solenoids. They're located behind the hardboard cover on the lower right side (looking at the back of the refrigerator), where the water comes in.

Parts are under $50 and the job should easily take less than 1 hour.

Subzero 690 ss icemaker making a clicking sound why

If the noise is coming from the ice maker head itself. Then it sounds like the gear is slipping. They are plastic and it is very common for them to crack or break. Most ice makers are the same. Click Here to see a post on a Whirlpool ice maker with a broken gear.

Good Luck From David at refrigerator repair.

My ice maker fails to make ice, and seems to get "stuck" between batches, causing a clicking noise that occurs continuously about every 30 seconds. Any suggestions?

check for a stuck ice cube, something is preventing your ice maker to advance, if there is no ice cube, replace ice maker part #wr30x10093 for standard in freezer ice maker or part #wr30x10097 for ice maker in refrigerator

Very Loud Ice Maker in GE gfss6kkxs Fridge

Sorry to inform you but GE refrigerators are known for their noise making machines. I myself have a GE Profile side by side but will never own another GE product. After repairing appliances GE is better priced than their competition and the reason cheaper made product. Sometimes cheaper doesn't mean better. Outside looks really good but what you don't see is ugly. BB

My ice maker does not eject ice when frozen. Make

Good day,
Unplug refrigerator.
Snap off front cover of the ice maker. You will see a large white gear.
If the plastic gear has a screw in the center, then you can remove the gear and inspect for broken teeth. The gear is easily replaced thru any appliance parts house.
If there is no screw then the ice maker uses a semi-solid circuit board and must be replaced.

ED5NHGXMQ00 stopped working overnight. Ice maker

Clicking could be a bad starter relay if the noise is coming from the back under the unit where the compressor is. check it here Check your compressor relay-
The clicking could be coming from a fan, one of which is near the compressor under the unit and another is in the freezer behind the rear cover inside.
The defrost timer could be clicking. This sound would come from the fridge. Part 6 on this diagram.
How to check everything
If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat.
You can turn the defrost timer till it clicks and everything shuts down. The heater should now come on. If it does, replace the timer. If it doesn't, check the heater and defrost thermostat. Turn the timer again till everything starts back up to end the defrost cycle.

Our Samsung ice maker stopped working

Sound like the problem may be a gear broken or damaged in the module which appears to be replaceable in your model. If you can dissasemble it enough to inspect the gears you may can replace the part instead of the entire ice maker. It looks like the motor may be in part 18 on this diagram.
