Remove the memory card and move the slider on the side of the memory card to the unlocked position.

Memory card locked

Look at your memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

How do I erase my memory card? Thanks, Chris

Hi,

You can format your memory card using the camera's menu to "format" removes all files and reinstalls the cameras' directory to the memory card for use in the camera.

Note:- Formatting the memory card erase all the data including protected images and other file types. So, once you formatted the memory card there is no way to restore them.

Rating the solution is highly appreciated...Good Luck

When turned on says memory card protected write

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

Nikon Coolpix 4600 lens extended and won't turn on

Go to store and purchase a memor card reader/writer. It will allow you to put your memory card in it and download the pictures to the computer via the usb port. Make sure the reader/writer is made to accept your type of memory card.

Hello, Many times when someone fools with a memory card and the camera is on, it sort of backfires when the camera is trying to read or write data to the memory card. Error 10 might be attached to a fault in the memory card or system error. Try doing this first: remove you memory card when the camera is off. Remove you batteries so it can reset. Leave the batteries out for 30 secondsthen replace them. Use a brand new SD memory card and then turn on camera. Go to menu and format the new memory card and see if this helps. Good luck.

Turning on the camera

Please look at the memory card closely. If there is a write protect switch, it will give you this error. Please ensure that the write protect switch on the memory card is not in the lock, or protected position.

See more information about SD cards here.

Let me know if this helps!
