DVD player will work fine when the dvd is first put in, but after maybe a minute, it'll freeze for like three minutes. This is a panasonic dvd/video cd/cd player, that says, "Hi Speed x 100." Please help.

This is a motor problem. Here is what to do to put it right.
Open the disc tray and switch off the power, then remove the lid off the player. Locate the disc motor and where the spindle goes through the motor put a little WD40 or light oil (but not too much) or it will get messy.
Turn the disc motor a few times yourself and let the lubricant soak in. Leave it for about 30 minutes then try it again - and it should work.
This works in a number of cases, though I can't guarantee it will work for you. TRY IT! (:-)
Your DVD drive is overheating and untill you replace it your likely to keep getting the same problem. However there are a few methods of fixing it on your own.
First look for better drivers online - this shoud increase the preformance dramatically.
Second there is a chance that your lense is dusty or scrached - go to your nearest supermarket and look for a dvd that cleans dvd players. (these disks have tiny fine brushes that clean dvd player lenses. this may fix your problem all together.
If you cannot do ether of these try to blow the dust out of the lense.
Step 1) Download the pioneer firmware here http://www.pioneerfaq.info/index.php?question=Firmwares
The site says the firmware only works on region 2 players. For this model it worked for my region 4 player in Australia
Step 2) Burn this file to a CD-ROM with name PIONEER as per these instructions - http://www.pioneerfaq.info/english/burn_guide.php
Step 3) Load the CD and your DVD player with ask you to flash the firmware. It says press play to start but instead HOLD DOWN ENTER during the entire process. DO NOT switch off your DVD during this time. When the tray opens take the CD ROM out but keep the DVD on. The flashing can take up two to three minutes. During this time HOLD DOWN ENTER ON THE REMOTE. The entire time!
Step 4) The DVD player will reboot. The tray should be empty. It will then load the tray back into the player. If the signal is disorted switch on and off.
Your done! Should work.
The most complex way of region freeing a DVD I have ever endured! :)
