Re: scematic

Your description of "Glass encase 4mm reddish orange, black end." leads me to deduct that this is a diode. The black end denotes the cathode. For more help, post back.

How to repair a motorola rdu2080d PTT button

If the push to talk button is damaged. You will need to disassemble the radio to get to the circuit board. The PTT is usually surface mount soldered to the board. You will need silver electronics grade solder, a flux pen, a solder sucker or solder wick, a replacement PTT, a soldering iron 25 watts or greater, screwdrivers to match the screws in the casing during disassembly, a table mounted vise to hold the circuit board during repair/ soldering, a very fine grit sand paper to remove any oxidation off the terminals of the PTT for a perfect solder connection, and probably a magnifying glass to inspect the new solder connection with the PTT to the circuit board.

Most of the soldering tools can be purchased at radio shack.

if you have no experience soldering, I recommend going to YouTube and watch the videos posted on DIY soldering to get a good understanding of the whole process from start to finish. There is a huge amount of informational videos on the subject there. I could sit here and try to explain the whole process and why but as the saying goes a picture is worth a thousand words (but a video is worth a million ).

Hope this helps. Have an excellent day.

Battery clips

you have to remove the circuit board from the case. There is a rod that holds the clip in. You have to remove a little rubber cover that keeps the rod from coming out.
You need the part number : PMDN4022AR

My radio would not turn on yesterday. I have checked the fuse and fuse connections. The fuse was black, so I put a new one in. The fuse connections were good. The connections to the battery are good, the...

The black fuse means it blew from a fast, heavy short circuit instead of an overload of some sort. The high current vaporizes the wire inside and coats the glass, giving it the black look. In an overload, the fuse link melts.

A common cause is failure of the reverse-polarity diode in the radio. It's there to cause the fuse to blow if you get the battery connections backwards when hooking up the radio. The diode can short, and this will cause the blown fuse. If you check the fuse and find it's black again, you should check the diode with an ohmmeter. Look for the diode near where the battery lead connects to the circuit board in the radio.

On the binatone walkie talkies (black and orange) how do you get the lock off? Thanks

It's difficult to answer without knowing which model, I know the Marina 300 came in black and orange however a few others have also had that colour variant. To remove the keylock from the Marina 300 you PRESS AND HOLD THE MENU BUTTON UNTIL THE KEY ICON DISAPPEARS. Note: The PTT, Call and Power will remain functional when keylock is on.

There is no transmit

In this case, I believe the power output transistor is shorted, The .1W output shows the exciter transistor may be OK. Locate and remove the power output transistor, find it's replacement thru an NTE catalog, and order it (maybe you want to order two, in case you mess the first one up). Resolder the replacement transistor the exact way you saw the original soldered, as sometimes they use the solder itself to transfer the heat generated by the power output transistor to the heat sink ( or what there is of one if your radio is a handy-talky). Use an ESD wristband, and ground it to the metal case, or the circuit board's ground plane. This will eliminate you destroying any static sensitive devices on the circuit board, causing worse damage than when you started the repair. Good Luck,
