Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

Drain clogged My washer rarely makes it through the drain cycle. Since it does sometimes, I believe the drain pump is fine. I have cleared a potential clog in the outgoing line from the drain pump, and can blow through the drain hose (which sometimes allows the system to drain the rest of the way). Is it likely that the incoming drain to the drain pump is clogged? If so, how can I access it? Is it a hose or a valve style drain?

Most likely it is a clog in the hose between the tub and drain pump. Or a failing drain pump. They are accessed from underneath, either by tilting machine or laying the machine down on it's front. Use a towel laid out to prevent scratches.

Go here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vbLAory7i... It says Whirlpool but don't worry about that yours should be the same. Instead of the replacement procedure though your goal should be to remove and inspect for objects in the hose going to the pump and then check the pump impeller. It should be straight and turn though with resistance about every 1/2 turn. Let me know.

SOURCE: Duet error code F 02.

Just had this problem. Remove the kick plate in front of machine. The drain pump filter maybe clogged. Turn the white screw to remove filter, but be sure to have towels or a bucket handy. I clean mine out and now is working fine.

SOURCE: Fixing a clogged pump on GE Profile washer

waht u need to do is get a bucket now take the outlet hose and place it into it low to the ground if water comes out then it will be that your pump is faulty and needs replacing but if it doesnt the only way to do it is towels on the floor and with a low pan place this under the sump hose which should be in the middle of your drum which then leads to the pump pull slowly but not enough for the water to push the hose of do this until empty the only other way is to take it outside and pull the outlet hose of this is the quicker and dryiest out of them all but do do the first part to c if the pump is faulty m8

SOURCE: Front Loading Washer won't drain

The problem is most likely change in the drain pump and sump area (rubber boot going from tub to pump). It is axcessed by removing the lower front panel. Disconnecting and reconnecting the hoses to the pump are real tricky!!!!!!!!!

SOURCE: WTW6600SW2 Won't Drain

We had the same problem. In our case a penny got down under the tub and into the pump. It caused a crack in the pump and it could not get the suction it needed to drain. A new pump solved the problem. Parts and labor to the tune of $195.

SOURCE: Kenmore Elite HE3 F02 error

If you checked the drain pump reservoir and the problem still persists, you may have a pump with a damaged motor/impeller, or something lodged in one of the drain lines. In particular, the drain line that runs from the bottom of the wash tub to the inlet side of the pump.

I recommend you remove the inlet hose, first and inspect for clogs. In is common for small garments to become lodged in this area and restrict water flow to the drain pump. Check the output drain line for obstructions as well.

It does not take much to damage this small drain pumps. The error code is generated if the drain cycle exceeds 8 minutes. So...if the impeller or motor become damaged, and the pump does not pull water at the correct volume, you may still experience the drain error. In this case, you will have to replace the pump in order to get the error to clear. The following link explains how:

Replacements can be purchased at any of the following websites:

I have a LG Dishwasher, Model LDF7551ST invert-er direct drive, and it's been getting this (OE) error, it worked fine for about a yeaR

Check to be sure the drain hose isn't clogged or kinked. If that checks out, check to see if the drain pump or drain pump filter are clogged. Sometimes objects that are put into the washing machine, for example combs, money, hair pins, etc. end up in the filter. Finally, if the drain line is clear and the pump seems to be clear, you may need to replace the drain pump assembly.

Why does it quit randomly during cycle?

If you cleared the drain pump trap of obstructions, and the pump still runs fine(without rattling from a loose or damaged impeller) then most likely you have fixed the problem. The washer will not spin if it can't drain--and if the water is draining too slowly, it will time out and give an error code for "slow drain". For any items such as bras, underwear, socks, baby socks, stockings, pantyhose, etc, use a netted clothing bag with a zipper to prevent those types of things from getting pulled in-between the basket and tub and then making it to the drain pump trap. These things are notorious for clogging pumps on front load and top load HE washers!!

Hello,

Fisher/Paykels are notorious for bad drain pumps. If you hear any kind of squeeling, grinding, chattering, or such while it is drying to drain, you have a bad pump. P/N 479595

F2 mean that you have a drainage problem and could be that the pump is clogged. I believe the pump can be accessed from the front of the washer. Also make sure electrical connections are secure. Make sure no hoses are clogged or kinked anywhere.

Washer displays Ld and won't drain. won't restart or anything. kenmore oasis

The LD fault code indicates that the washer took longer than 5 minutes to pump out the water and reset the water level pressure switch. You should be able to press STOP/CANCEL to clear the display.

Check you drain hose for kinks or clogs. You could have a clog or failure in the drain pump that is causing this problem.

You can use a diagnostic test to start the drain pump. To start this diagnostic test, press the following keys in this order: SET DELAY TIME, END OF CYCLE SIGNAL, SET DELAY TIME, END OF CYCLE SIGNAL. The display should show "dt" after this key dance. Press the JEANS/COLORS key to start a 60 rpm spin and drain test that will terminate after 40 seconds. Listen for the drain pump. It should be running during this test. Also listen for unusual noises from the pump that could indicate that it is clogged. You may be able to drain the water from the washer using this diagnostic cycle depending on the severity of the clog or failure. If not, you may need to manually remove the water. If you are able to safely access and clear a clog in the drain pump or drain line, you may be able to repair this problem yourself.

Hi, During the express wash cycle the machine stops draining and flashes F02. When I unplug the machine for a few minutes and plug it back in,I try to drain it by pressing rinse/drain cycle but it will not...

“F02” is a Long Drain error. If the drain time exceeds 8 minutes this error code will be displayed. In addition, a “SUDS” error may also be generated as a secondary error. This is an indication of a drain pump problem and/or clog in the drain line. You will need to check the following:

1. Check the drain hose to make sure it is not kinked or clogged.
2. Check the electrical connections to the pump and ensure the pump is running.
3. Remove the drain pump filter and check for foreign objects and/or debris.

To check the drain pump, click on the following link for step-by-step instructions.

If the above procedures do not correct the problem, it is recommended by the manufacturer to replace the drain pump

Remove the front panel. There is a short hose that goes from the tub to the pump. Sometimes you can remove the clog by gently squeezing the tube with the machine on and it will clear. The other option is to get all the water out of it then remove the tube to clear it out.
