Re: E74 but the red light is on the left side
The cause of the E74 Error might be overheating of
your console and for avoiding such error messages in future you need to
put your machine at an open space. Ensure that it is placed near the
window or you can also make some external arrangement for cooling the
console such as cooling the machine through a pedestal fan etc. But as
your Xbox already have E74 Problem, You can either send your Xbox to
Microsoft for repair ( just for your information Microsoft is no longer
providing Extended warranty for E74 Problem), Microsoft generally takes
3-4 weeks to fix the problem. If you can't wait for a month (I know
most XBox gamers can not wait without their favourite Gaming device),
You can also fix E74 Problem yourself and that too within an hour
without any technical knowledge. I would suggest you to check out the DIY Xbox Fix Guide for more information.

The E74/E6x/E4x/E8x are famous error codes that have
plagued many Xbox 360 gamers. This error codes will be displayed on
your screen, each indicating different problem with your Xbox 360. It's
usually defined by the single red light or 1 Red Light Error lit up at
lower right quadrant on the Red Ring of Light on your Xbox 360 console. E74: There is high
chance it's a scaler chip problem (the "ANA" or "HANA" chip near the AV
cable connection) it can also be caused by a faulty AV cable so check
that first. In some cases it is a problem with the GPU and may be
repairable by using the Xbox 360 Repair Guide. Xbox 360 E74 error has
reported to increasing a lot for the newer Xbox 360 version.
Hope this was helpful?
you are seeing one red light on the powerbutton and E74 on the screen?
E74 can only be caused by either the HDD or the console itself,so you might wanna try using a different HDD with your console, if the issue still persists, then most probably, the console is having a hardware failure, there is a possibility that the HDD PORT is not properly woking w/c is causing the e74 error.
if thats the case, try calling xbox support hotline(1-800-4-MYXBOX) to process a repair for the console,it will be free, because Microsoft is extending the warranty of the consoles for 3yrs from the date of purchase for e74 and 3red light issues.
or you can also process a repair online, that is available at service.xbox.com,just click on "repair my console"
The cause of E-74 with one red light Error might be overheating of your console
and for avoiding such error in future you need to put your machine at an open
space. Ensure that it is placed near the window or you can also make some
external arrangement for cooling of console such as cooling the machine through
a pedestal fan. But as your Xbox already have E74 with one red light Problem
which can be solved by only repairing it, no other alternative. Either you
can send your Xbox to Microsoft (Please note that microsoft is no longer
providing extended warranty for E74 with one red lightError) and wait for 3-4
weeks. If you don't want to wait for a month, you can also fix E74 with one red
light problem with the help of this DIY Video, the guide will explain step by
step approach to fix the problem. Choice is yours...........
E74: AV cable error... There is a problem with the AV cable, try using a different AV cable. If the cable is known to be working then there is a 90% chance it's a scaler chip problem (the "ANA" or "HANA" chip connected directly to the AV cable) in rare cases it is the GPU. If you just got it take it back, if you have had it for a little while you need to call microsoft and send it off for repair
I had the same exact thing happen. The only thing to do is call 18004myxbox and have it sent out for repair. Ask to speak with a manager though, because they can usually give you a better price than the initial guy. If it's still under warranty though it won't cost anything. So weird that this happened to me playing the same game. Just got mine back yesterday.
