I have a frigidaire top loading washer. i am trying to remove the drain hose but am curious how to. it seems that the hose is connected to a rubber section that then attaches to the water pump. But we are unable to detach it. Is the drainage hose supposed to attached in one piece to the water pump/valve or it is two parts (meaning we should be able to detach it from the rubber section). sorry to be confusing.

If it has detected SUDs it may be trying to rid them. Is your drain hose at least 30 inchs above the floor? If is ain't then gravity may be causing the problem. Is the drain hose jammed tightly into the drain? This may cause a siphoning effect.
if the conection is not on the back of the washer than you will nead to remove the two screw's at the bottom of the frount panal, remove the panal and you should see the drain line on the left side in the backmake sure you have somthing to catch the water befor you remove the clamp holding drain hose on.
Remove the hose and bend it in circiles see if yo see any cracks in the hose if you do replace it or if it's long enough cut out the bad part and replace it. Alos clamps wear out ver time so try replacing the clamps too.
The problem is probably the pump being clogged with an object. Typically it is a coin. Remove the front bottom cover to access the pump. Remove the two hoses. Make sure you have a pan to catch the water from the hoses. You will be able to remove the objects after the hoses are removed.
firs get a shop vac and drain the water from the drain hose if you don't have one get a radiator hose clamp from auto zone then remove two bottom screws from washer bottom and pull down on panel you will see a hose coming down from the tub if you didn't have a vac clamp the hose here with the clamp about mid way the pull the hose from the drain pump and check it for jamming there is no filter
sounds as if theres something stuck in your drain pump, youll need to remove the lower acess panel(2 screws across the bottom front of unit) you'll see teh pump in the rigth hand corner. i would remove as much water as possible before trying to remove the hose to the pump or you will get soaking wetaferer removig the hose youll be able tro see what trapped in oyu pump preventing free draining.. VERY common problem.DISCONNECT POWER THE DRAIN PUMP IS ALWAYS LIVE!!!!!!!!
