Not sure if this will help but, I recently put an antenna on the roof of my house. I don't watch TV much but wanted to enjoy some TV, but my remote locked up and the side buttons on the TV wouldn't work either. I tried changing the battery, but no luck. There's a broadcast station 64.2 that is locking up TV's & remotes. Here's the fix that a TV repair co. gave me which did break the lock of the station 64.2.
1) unplug antenna (not roof but connection from TV to wall)
2) unplug and plug back in TV
3) find a way via remote or side buttons to scan channels
4) Go to Menu
5) EZ Setup
6) Channel Set Up-Scan Channels
7) Channel Memory
8) Digital Set Up
9) Turn Skip On for 64.2 (Delete this Channel)
10) Turn off TB
11) Hook Antenna back
You may have to play with the order to acheive the end result or figure out a way to delete 64.2, but during the process you will at least unlock from being stuck on 64.2.
Several ideas, replace the batteries in the remote. Point the remote at the base of the TV where the sensor can pick up the command. Get a new universal remote. Good luck.
Turn your TV off and unplug it for several minutes. Remove the batteries from any remote controls that you use for the TV, press all of their buttons, and install fresh batteries. Reset the TV to factory defaults. The universal remote control should not have caused any damage to the TV. If the problem persists, we recommend that you seek service by calling 1-888-237-8289 in the U.S or 1-866-237-8289 in Canada.
Sometimes you can use the Menu button on the front of your tv and work your way through the settings via the Channel up and down and Volume up and down. You would be looking for an option within the menu that say something to the effect of Scan channels or Search Channels.
If that doesn't work you can pick up a Universal Remote from Wal-mart or Best Buy or any store around that sells electronics for the most part. They range anywhere from $10-$35, at least you don't NEED to spend more than that on one. Then you can access the menu through the Universal Remote, or just punch in the channel you desire to go to.
First make sure the batteries are in correctly, if the batteries were corroded clean any acid from contacts. If acid leaked from the batteries it may have eaten into the remotes cicuit board. If all that is ok then you could turn on the cable box and with the menu button on the TV do an auto-program and it should lock in on channel two because it should be the only signal it picks up. If you can take your remote to a repair shop they my be able to test or fix it.
You can also try going to www.electronicadventure.us and scroll down to TruTech click on it and srcoll down to your model for part number and price.
try the Funai codes look on the back of your tv and see if Funai made it if so try ther codes. My Magnavox converter box wont pick up chanel 10 here for some reasion says no signal.works ok on all of the other chanels. Now if you have the orginal remote you should be able to go into the menu and go to add/delet and add that chanel to the scan if it has been deleted for some reasion.
I had the same problem, couldn't change the channels with the remote or on the side of the TV. This was for a Vizio 37"
Here is the fix:
1. Turn on TV
2. With remote, press the Menu Button
3. Go to Antenna Menu
4. Select Auto Search
Let it search, it could take several minutes. It may not finish to 100%, mine got stuck at 79% for 10 minutes. It's fine if that happens, go ahead and cancel.
5. It should be done, your remote will work perfect along with the TV channel buttons.
