Wireless freezing problem

There are many documented cases of this router being ****. How old is it? If you can return it do that. If not, get yourself a linksys. I know they are bit more expensive, but you get what you pay for.

Lights on Internet and LanEthernet as well as Wireless flash continually. Computer freezes when I try to go on-line.

Unplug the ISP modem and the Wireless device, wait 30 seconds or so, Check ALL cables and reseat connections, Plug in the ISP modem, wait for selftest, plug in wireless device, wait for selftest, reboot computer. If the router/wireless is working properly the lights will flash, even when your computer is not connected . Is your wireless Secured with a Password? The freezing may be your computer is infected by a Virus or Malware. Try MALWAREBYTES freeware at : http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/ In the install UNCHECK the TRIAL PRO version, you want the freeware version. Run a FULL Scan, Delete ALL results, reboot. If you need to, boot to Safe Mode with Networking and download Malwarebytes and run the scan. If all fails, Contact your ISP have them verify signal, have a ISP tech come out to analize signal, it may be outside.

When i turn on the power to my router, all of the lights turn on and freeze

Try to reboot your router...normally reboot are two types...

In Netgear router, when you change the router configuration, it does a "soft reboot", which is related to the operating system reboot.
And a "hard reboot" is usually done by removing power from the router and rebooting it after powering it off for several seconds.

->open your browser and login your router page using username and password..
->Click the Diagnostics option which is under the Maintenance on the left hand side of your Netgear setting page.
->Then click the Reboot button and it will automatically reboot your router.

***Reboot process can vary depending on different Netgear wireless router models.

I can not connect to the Internet. I have WiFi connection but can't do anything else

Plug your computer/laptop directly into router. Can you get to the Internet then?
If you CANNOT get to the internet when your computer is plugged into the router, reboot your router. If it doesn't have a power switch, unplug it. Leave it unplugged. Next, you need to figure out if you have another modem for DSL or Cable. If you do have another DSL or Cable modem, unplug that device to. After 5 minutes has elapsed for both devices being unpowered, plug in the DSL or Cable modem to the power source. Keep the router unplugged from power. After your DSL or Cable modem has powered up for 5 minutes, plug your router into the power source. Wait a few minutes. Reboot your computer/laptop. Try the wireless connection again.
If you CAN get to the internet when your computer is plugged into the router. Reboot your computer. Try to connect again. If you cannot connect after rebooting, make sure you are connecting to YOUR OWN wireless access point and not someone else's.
Do you have other computers/laptops/wifi devices that CAN/CANNOT connect to your wireless / access the Internet?

MY INTERNET KEEP FREEZING WHEN I REBOOT MY MODEM ROUTER IT WORKS AGAIN FOR A WHILE

avoid too many phone extensions and check your line for loose connections or corroded copper wires especially on your conduit box.

provide DSL splitter for every phone extension you've made.

hope this solves your problem.

Make sure your Firewall is running

All should be well

2700HGV-B rebooting

Is this device a modem and router in one, or a router only that connects through a separate modem?

If it's a combo device, then a firmware update will probably fix your issue. Your ISP should be able to fix this. Hiding the device on the floor under a drawer could actually cause this because, like any computer, a router needs air flow to cool it off. Routers can overheat and freeze up leading to some weird symptoms.

If you have two devices (router and modem) then make sure it's not the modem acting up.

Router Reboots and Freezes

I have found a router freezes up due to memory leaks. After a while it just uses up all its available memory and can't make a new connection. Calling the manufacture and raving until they send you the firmware fix for the memory leak is the best option. In the meantime, just pull the power plug on the thing and when it comes back up it will be fine (until it uses up all its memory).
